I have traveled around the world and never had a hotel experience like this. From the minute we arrived on Saturday evening, the air conditioner unit made a loud ticking noise, typically once every one-two minutes. When we looked inside the unit, we saw that there were exposed wires, which were concerning to us. We brought this to the attention of Kevin, our only hotel contact, that evening but he said nothing could be done until the next day and rushed out of the room. The noise was very annoying and made it difficult to sleep at night or to enjoy the room during the day. We reached out to Kevin by text/email multiple times during our stay, and responses were usually delayed by several hours. Ultimately we were told, essentially, that "that is just normal a/c noise. If you don't like it, turn off the a/c and sleep with the window open." Beyond the fact that that option meant listening to noise from the street below as well as mosquitos in the room, turning off the unit did not make the noise stop. Our last message to Kevin and a request to speak to his manager went unanswered.
This "hotel" is in a great location and the room was fine, except for the malfunctioning a/c unit. I cannot recommend this place, however, because I felt that we were treated incredibly poorly. The noise in the room disrupted our sleep every night, and our frustrating interactions with Kevin put a damper on our time in Florence. No one from the hotel has apologized to us.
