Davis Mountains View
This property is the cleanest I have ever rented and that is remarkable considering the gravel road which accesses it and the arid/semi-arid environment it exists within. The views and rural quiet hold a valuable magic of their own. It was spacious and comfortable. The well water was indeed clean, crisp, and better than bottled or municipal. There were a few things that raised our eyebrows. One was the bath in the main bedroom. It was a tub with hand held wand, but the wand was broken so a “rinsing bucket” was provided along with hand written notes attached to the broken wand. The next issue is a life safety issue. It had to do with a malfunctioning gas stovetop. We guests were warned to use the right-side burners as they were more reliable than the left when igniting. Matches were suggested as a remedy, if necessary. This is dangerous and not acceptable. These problems were clearly known by the host as they were addressed directly. I would strongly suggest that the host fix these known problems before someone gets hurt.

Great place to relax after running around all day. Views were amazing, stars were something or if a movie. House comes with everything you could need in a basic kitchen. Soaking tub was also great! Grocery store is super expensive so bring what you need for sure! 1

Fort Davis getaway
Our family enjoyed our stay here immensely! It was the perfect homebase for exploring Fort Davis, Marfa, Alpine and Balmorhea during the day, while relaxing and stargazing at night. The home itself is decorated with care and Texan charm - as native of West Texas, I felt right at home, and I expect first-time visitors to this area will appreciate the authenticity. Plenty of room, comfort and views galore! Hope to stay here again.

Wonderful view
We were in Fort Davis for a meeting at the McDonald Observatory over the weekend. The house is located between Fort Davis, TX and McDonald Observatory on top of a hill. The view is wonderful and the observatory can be seen from the back porch area. After the last telescope viewing on Saturday at the observatory our guests, my wife and I sat out on the porch and enjoyed the view of the Milky Way and stars until midnight. The house was very clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend staying there.

West Texas Vacation
This home was the perfect launching pad for our West Texas adventures and a comfortable place to return to at the end of the day. It was the perfect distance to the McDonald Observatory, a short drive to Balmorhea springs for swimming, and a day drive to Carlsbad Caverns. You can’t beat the back patio for coffee and star gazing. The home had everything we needed and was very clean.

House in great, very well stocked! My only issue was that the property in not very senior friendly. Getting into the tub in the master was not possible for my husband and there were no grab bars to assist him in the guest shower. Otherwise, this was one of the best properties we have rented on VRBO!!

Great home base to explore the Davis Mountains
With a family member visiting from the UK, we were looking for a spot from which to explore the wide open spaces of the Davis Mountains. This home was just the place. Amazing views from the porch were great for those not looking for so much activity, and the home is conveniently located for those wanting to check out the Davis Mtns State Park, McDonald Observatory, Fort Davis, or the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute. The kitchen was thoughtfully supplied and made cooking for 4 for the visit easy. Beautifully decorated and comfortable. Our family thoroughly enjoyed it!

Great Location for a Stay in Fort Davis
We planned a trip to the McDonald Observatory, which was a perfect location for our stay in Fort Davis, Texas. The property was very clean, spacious and comfortable, and it was close to the observatory, Fort Davis, Davis, and Marfa. The host helped answer our questions and provide information about the area. We were very happy with our stay and would book again the next time we are in the area!

This property was spectacular. Amazing view of the mountains and you can see the observatory. Very clean with great accommodations. The kitchen is well stocked, it has great wi-fi and was spacious and comfortable. The owner had very good communication and there are instructions for everything you need.. We used the house as a jumping off point for visiting Fort Davis, Marfa, Alpine, Terlingua, Marathon, Lajitas, and both Big Bends. This was really a great property and location to have a West Texas adventure. Would definitely stay here again.

Quaint and quiet with spectacular views
This property is ideally situated between the Davis Mountain State Park and the McDonald Observatory. It gives you the perfect home base to tour the observatory, attend a star gazing party and hike the numerous nearby trails. We all couldn't get over how dark and peaceful the valley was at night. In fact, we found ourselves whispering to each other while star gazing as to not disturb the blissful quiet. If you're looking for a the perfect Texas mountain this property is very hard to beat!

Peaceful cabin with great view
Perfect getaway, very quiet and peaceful. The cabin had lots of thoughtful touches that we appreciated. Communication with Laura was easy, she was super responsive. The view was lovely, we don't usually notice the moon in the city but here the full moon bathed the valley in moonlight. Would also love to come back when it's not a full moon so we can see more of the stars. Very convenient for visiting McDonald observatory, Fort Davis, Marfa, Alpine, Davis mountains state park

This place is awesome! Over a five day visit, we only left once to visit the Davis Observatory - otherwise we were so content to sit and enjoy the quiet. The view from the rocker on the porch was peaceful with the sunsets brightly colored. The house was clean with everything we needed. We had a lovely time.
