Although we knew it was a historic hotel, we expected cleanliness. The guest room was so old and outdated. The carpet was dirty, the bathtub was in such bad condition and had been patched numerous times. We do not plan on ever going here again. We were so disappointed.

Best location in the Stockyards

This place is amazing! It's right in the middle of the stockyards and you can walk all over. The bar in the hotel is great and has a wonderful atmosphere. Bartender Jeannette is the best. We had a great stay here and can't wait to come back!

If you are willing to trade service, hospitality, and basic comfort for this fantastic location this is the place you should book. First task getting someone’s attention at the front desk. Secondly the HVAC in the rooms are shot so pick a date that there is mild weather (In Texas that’s probably 4 days out of the year) our Jan. stay temps dropped to 20 degrees after being in the 70’s so the A/C was on. We switched it to heat but nothing the next morning on check out day our room was 56 degrees. I did get a sorry when checking out once all the employees let me up to the desk. Thirdly the decor is cool but not functional as the pull chain toilet ran almost all the time. There’s a reason they’re nonexistent in practical use, so have some plumbing skills. This hotel is in need of a little leadership and discipline to make it a great place to stay, so be prepared if you so choose to make the trade off.

Filthy Towers

On first impressions the hotel blows you away with the location and the stockyards experience, however once you leave the lobby and the restaurant the downstairs toilets are filthy. When you get to the room on first impression things are ok , then on closer inspection you realise that the bed is clean however the carpet windows bathroom is not so good. Carpets in hotels are a thing of the past because they trap all the crap that you walk in off the street and are very hard to keep and appear clean , I know it’s an old hotel but so are a lot of places like the fairmount in San Antonio where I stayed the next night( same age and a third of the price) that place is spotless. When you charge 500 bucks a night i don’t expect a massive brown stain down the middle of the bath and an out of date shower that you can’t adjust while you’re slipping about on the stained bath tub base with a manky shower curtain stuck to you .There was an inspection hatch in the bedroom and it looked like they had been a leak at some time and the plaster was hanging off and blown . The windows had secondary glazing (very 1970s) filthy inside and obviously the windows were filthy because they can’t access them to clean or get ventilation. The net curtains were filthy .All of the place needs a lick of paint and a lot of maintenance the hallways are drab and dark on the whole I wasn’t impressed and when I visit again, cos it’s great experience I ll stay at the Drover or the Marriot

Fun stay, but….

Staff was very helpful. Had to wait 20 min for car valet to show up. They retrieved my car quickly once they arrived. Desk clerk said they were helping guests to their rooms. They need more staff on the weekends. Bed was very comfortable and clean. Bathroom needed maintenance like recaulking and wood fixtures refinished or replaced. Room was quiet but earplugs were provided if the street was loud. Location was the best part! We will be back.
