I had a great experience at this hotel during my first visit to China. It’s very foreigner-friendly, with staff who spoke English and were both kind and professional throughout my stay. I would definitely recommend it to other first-time visitors to China. However, I did have an issue during check-in. The staff initially wanted to charge me for the minibar without informing me upfront. It wasn’t until I questioned the unusually high deposit charge that they explained it was for minibar usage. I asked them to remove it, so I’d recommend double-checking your deposit charges during check-in to avoid any surprises. On a positive note, the hotel also has a museum, which is a great feature to explore during your free time. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I’d happily return!

This was my first time staying at The Garden Hotel Guangzhou, I was really surprised that how friendly the staff were; other than the cleanness of the place, staff are well trained. They were quick, hard working, helpful, friendly and efficient as the hotel was jammed due to the exhibition time during my stay; it further surprised me was that most of them speak English! I would love to stay there again when I go to Guangzhou again.

Service is good and very welcoming. 3 different locations for breakfast as it can get busy however issues are with the rooms. There is no privacy between bed and toilet or bath for a twin. So if sharing with a friend a twin room there is only one glass that slides for the toilet and then the same glass that slide for the shower and that’s it no where to change in private. Basin is outside so if one is sleeping another getting ready the entire room is disturbed. The more expensive rooms has a frosted glass partition separating the bedroom but nothing that will stop seeing through. Be comfortable with who you are willing to show your skin with.

Rooms a bit old , breakfast needs a massive upgrade. Coffe served in cardboard cups, no spoons to mix sugar , they offer plastic straws. It’s unbelievable how they are so off on the detail which costs nothing.

The hotel is getting older and definitely needs refreshing; the first room I had was first of all dirty (cleaning was much better in the past) and there were hair on the table which also had some water damage and not fixed, they have covered it with some magazines. Within hours of check in, it started to drip from the bathroom ceiling into the bathtub so they had to change my room. The second room was similar, not that great of a cleaning, furniture a bit run down, bathroom needs renewing. Breakfast on 30th floor is definitely better than the 1st floor; that was the only reason I booked this hotel, a good breakfast but it won’t be enough for future trips. They have a noodle restaurant on the first floor, adjacent to the lobby which is a good addition for people who want a quick lunch or dinner. Generally food quality of the hotel is the best thing here. The management should consider renewing the facilities as soon as they can while the food will not save the day much longer.
