Be nurtured in nature, with room for family & friends in this 5 bedroom house. Fosterton House offers beautiful, comfortable accommodation & artistic charm which can take up to 14 people. Please note: Our base rate is for 10 people using 6 beds. Additional guests are charged a per night rate on top.
Sit out on the front on the wrap around verandah and watch the sunset or at the back to see the sun come up over the hill in the morning.
From the verandah you can watch the kids in the pool or join your friends to relax there yourself. Watch the wallabies graze or the many birds flit around in the nearby bush and at night sit under the stars as you enjoy socialising around the fire pit.
The house is well set out and equipped with the kitchen having the things you need to make your stay easier, we have a large family, so have the kind of things we know are useful, eg: electric frypan, wok, rice cooker, a nice range of saucepans & microwave dishes, utensils, trays, acrylic plates, cups, wineglasses as well as crockery & real glasses, plus lots more. Our walk-in pantry means there is room to store food and lots of crockery & extras. A dishwasher, stove, oven, microwave, large fridge and BBQ outside makes preparing food for many easier. Stretching from the kitchen there is a large dining table with enough room to all sit around, as well as extra tables if more room is wanted. Double doors separate this area from the lounge room, so you can have a quieter area to sit & talk or watch TV. In here the fire box is a great gathering place in winter, heating the whole house and in summer the air conditioner cools you all down.
Roomy bathrooms are found at either end of the house with a separate toilet at one end & a spa bath, the other has a baby change table. There is a solar hot water system, with a booster switch in the pantry. A half hour will reheat the water on those overcast or wintery days, so there is always plenty to go round.
The 5 bedrooms are colourful, roomy and quite different in character. Three lead off the living area we use for dining: the rainforest room has a double bed, the queen room has a queen bed and the day bed, as well as doors out onto the verandah, while the bird room has a lovely old wooden double bedhead that adds to the charm. You'll find artwork throughout the house- originals by Bronwyn, Max or Trevor Weeks and prints form Bronwyn & Banksy. Off the lounge room there is a games room with a lounge (the sofa bed), a table and chairs for games & activities, books, DVDs, toys and activities for the kids with doors leading onto the verandah. A great place for the kids to come and go as they play outside or in the pool. Leading off this room is the kids room with single bunk beds and the cot, -there's a fold away cot too in case you want the little ones with you. This end of the house has the lovely king room- a king sized four poster bed, with decor & views across the valley to match.
Outside the gazebo provides shade and shelter for outdoor eating, with extra tables and chairs along the verandah so there are options. A cleared grass area around the house means you enjoy the bush but there is room for people to play- kick a ball or play tip! The fully fenced outdoor swimming pool has a spa built into it and the BBQ on the verandah allows extra oven or 'hotplate' space when feeding the mob. There are even laundry facilities, making it the ideal gathering place for larger groups, any time of year.
It is only a short walk down the driveway & across the road to more of our land, to the clear waters of the "Die Happy" creek. While 2 km away is the popular swimming & picnic area on the Williams River. From the bridge the river looks shallow- it is a natural ford, but it is actually deeper than you think- at least 5 foot in parts, making it ideal for the smaller & bigger ones. Of course the beautiful round river rocks are a great source of play for children and adults alike.
