The Drey, by Blake View holidays, is a brand new space, converted from old stables. The Drey is so called because of it's cosy "drey like" space, ideal for two and as a nod to the red squirrels you may see during your stay. The Drey has a kingsize zip and link bed, extra large shower and a cosy living room/dining area with a full kitchen to relax after a day in the fells. There is a private patio area, along with the use of a south facing paddock. Book with our other properties for more guests
The space
The Drey is a self contained holiday Let converted from a stable block in April 2024. It has access to a large south facing paddock and a private patio areas. There is ample, secure parking directly outside and the property is situated within 4 acres of land. Inside the property there is a kitchen and living room/dining area with patio doors which open onto the paddock, with views of the Lamplugh fells to the east. The kitchen is well equipped and has a double ceramic hob, oven, microwave, coffee machine, toaster and kettle with tea/coffee/some essentials provided. The bedroom has a King size bed which can be converted into two singles (zip and link) and plenty of hanging space and drawers for storage of clothes. The bedroom also looks onto the paddock. The en-suite bathroom has a large, modern shower with heated towel rail.
The property is a 5 minute walk to the popular Ennerdale Brewery which makes local ales and serves delicious food and there is a local supermarket, Boots chemist, bakery and take away situated in Frizington which is 1.5 miles away. The coast to coast route runs alongside the property and if you are cycling in the area, we have secure cycle storage. Ennerdale is within walking distance and Ennerdale bridge has 2 pubs which serve food and a lovely community owned cafe called the Gather. Cockermouth, Whitehaven and Workington are all a 10/15 minute drive away. You will see lots of local wildlife from the Drey, especially our resident red squirrels who use the wall at the back of the property as their highway. We also have pheasants, rabbits, frogs and the occasional deer along with owls and bats at night. We also have our 9 silkie chickens and 2 ducks free ranging on part of the land. If you have any questions/requests, please do not hesitate to contact us.
