There's bears in these hills!
My family had a really good time at the cabin. There were NUMEROUS bear sightings. One evening, we had a momma and two cubs in the yard. If you go, LOCK your car doors! These bears can open the door. Trust me, I know. The cabin itself is very nice. Everything is well stocked. It's located close enough to Gatlinburg to make it convenient but far enough away to feel secluded. Irene is very responsive. I highly recommend staying here!

Perfect size for a family of four. Well-stocked kitchen. Comfy beds. We didn't see any bears, unfortunately, but we were also out and about most days. Luckily, we saw bears at Roaring Fork and Cades Cove! Thanks for sharing your lovely home!

Fantastic place
The description in the listing was exactly what we had. Nice clean place plenty of room for my wife and I and our two kids. Saw more bears than I ever expected to see. That included the one on the railing of the deck. I would definitely go back there if I were to go back to Gatlinburg.

Wonderful Stay in Great Smoky Mountains
This house was perfect for our family (2 adults and 2 toddlers) vacation to the Great Smoky Mountains. The house is located just outside of downtown Gatlinburg and nearest park entrance is a 5 min drive. Even though the house is centrally located, it feels like a private oasis perched up on the mountain. The house had everything we needed and Irene was a very responsive host.

Smokey Hiking and Family Time
We had a great time staying for a week at the Chalet -- me, my husband, and daughter. A bear (black and not big, most likely a "teenager") showed up on Day one while we were eating outside by the fire-pit after we grilled steak at the outdoor charcoal grill. She was very curious and looked into the fire-pit. We walked back to the porch and watched until she started walking towards the porch. Then we went inside. She came to the porch and looked around, hopped onto the hot tub cover and looked inside at the window before she left by the side of the house. She came back the next morning just briefly in the backyard while we were having coffee inside. The third day, we saw a different bear (has brownish patches but not full grown). He visited just briefly at the fire-pit and the grill area. On Day 5, we saw a large black bear just patrolled through the yard. She did not stopped. On Day 6, the brownish bear came by again, but didn't stay too long in the yard. On Day 7, the smaller black bear from Day one came back to check out the back yard again, stopped by the grill and fire-pit. But she left soon afterwards. The last Day morning while we were packing up, the same smaller black bear came back to take a look at us from the yard briefly before she left. It was a nice goodbye. We loved every moment!!

Stay was great
We are not accustomed to driving hills so that took some getting used to, but the property and property owner where great. We even had a visitor during our stay - a bear left his body/paw prints up on the back porch glass door which our kids named and were super excited about. Setup was perfect for us and was a great home base for 4 days of exploring Gatlinburg, the Smokies, and Dollywood.

The cabin & location was awesome! Cabin is just as cute as the pictures show it is. Location was great, we stayed in & watched Gatlinburg's New Years fireworks show from the comfort of the living room. Great view of downtown Gatlinburg from porch! It was great to relax by the fireplace after touring Gatlinburg all day. Host was awesome as well & answered any questions we had quickly. Looking forward to planning another trip in the future!

Mountain cabin with bears
This cabin is close to Gatlinburg but your can't walk to town as you are in the mountains so beware of the cost to park in Gatlinburg. If you are lucky and can find a free spot on River Road otherwise the parking lots are 10-20 dollars a day. In Pigeon Forge it is free parking. The cabin is in a beautiful setting but you can't play games outside with your kids due to the terrain. We left a rogue volley ball behind somewhere!! The front porch is bigger than the pictures show and it would be nice to have a table out on the porch ; if that would not be a problem with bears. Keep your cars empty and locked as bears pass through regularly. We watched one come through and go directly to our car and jumped up and tried the car handle. If your want to grill outside you will need to bring charcoal. There is a nice fire ring but you will need to get firewood. Our Envision car grumbled about the drive up and the driveway. Luckily we did not do any damage to it. Housekeeping does an exceptional job compared to some of the other VRBO's we have been to. Seating in living room can only accommodate 4 adults and the couch was not very comfortable. The kitchen table is right behind the couch so that provides more seating.

Peaceful chalet well away from the glitz of Gatlinburg strip! Well equipped kitchen and has BBQ outside. Comfy beds, plenty of hot water. Easy to access the park but once on the main roads things can be busy with traffic queues common. Go early for the hikes to get a parking space and get your parking permit beforehand. Then come back early to enjoy the hot tub.

Great time in the Smokies!
We loved staying at this property! The chalet is well-maintained and clean, and the location was perfect for us. We spent all our days in the GSMNP, and the house is just a few minutes from the park entrance but quietly nestled away from the busyness of Gatlinburg. We didn’t see any bears (kinda ok with that), but we did enjoy the back porch and the hot tub. Host was great too! We would totally stay here again!
