Very nice.
The restaurant was excellent. The staff were nice. But there was no water coming out of the taps at night. And one lamp in the room didn't work. but the room was very clean. Over all, it was a very nice stay.

The Red Lion is a unique hotel in a very beautiful location. Clovelly is lovely but I would recommend a maximum of 2 nights, and you’d best hope the weather is good as it would be limited fun in bad weather. The food is good and eating outside on the harbor wall was lovely. The service is patchy and they don’t clean rooms currently (Covid regulations) which is a real shame, and it means no fresh towels etc. the breakfast tray is lovely, but again we left it outside our room and it wasn’t cleared for two days. All in all, a good experience and we would recommend to others. Clovelly is totally unique and picturesque.

Great family stay at the red lion hotel
Perfectly located hotel - right in front of the sea so we could watch the porpoises coming in with the evening tide. Beautiful family room - very spacious, clean and well decorated. The village is fantastic and well worth a visit.

Amazing location
This hotel has the most incredible location, being right on the harbour in picturesque Clovelly. It's an older building but well maintained and clean throughout. The room we had was in the main building, quite small for a double, but perfectly adequate for a short stay, with a good sized bathroom. The views from the bedroom window are amazing and worth staying for them alone. An incredible vista of the harbour and surrounding sea and beach. Breakfast was extra at £12.50 each. Good selection and well cooked, with friendly service from the waiting staff. The road down to the hotel is windy and steep and it does feel as you re heading into the sea! Don't be put off though, it is totally worth it. I would definitely return.

Restaurant menu excellent though snug bar evening meal menu was limited. Down side is that boojing through hotels.com rather than direct meant breakfasts were not included in the price which meant we had an unexpected charge of £50. If this is the case with every booking, hotels.com will lose our custom/

Very Special Stay.
The Red Lion is amazing. The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful, the service is exceptional. The position right on the harbour is perfect. I highly recommend the Red Lion, a stay here is really special, borne out by a number of returning honeymooners. The food is amazing as is the gratitude not to have to walk back up hill through the village after it.
