Spacious and cozy cabin near Lost Trail and Salmon

The Lost Trail Powder House is located off Highway 93, about a mile south of the small community of Gibbonsville and thirty miles north of Salmon, Idaho. This property provides excellent access to winter recreation opportunities: just 15 miles away, Lost Trail Ski Area and Chief Joseph Pass offer great and affordable downhill skiing, groomed nordic trails, and snowmobiling. For those interested in ski touring, there is plentiful backcountry access in the surrounding area. During the non-winter months, the nearby Salmon and North Fork Salmon River drainages are home to some of the best hunting and fishing in the northwest. Whitewater rafting and kayaking opportunities are abundant!

The house itself has a spacious and cozy main floor with open living space, radiant in-floor heat, and a wood stove. From the living room, french doors open out onto a back porch with a swinging chair overlooking a grove of Ponderosa Pines and the North Fork of the Salmon. A woodstove in the living space keeps the house warm and cozy, and we'll have kindling and wood stocked for your stay! The living room's abundant seating is great for group games, movies, and gathering around the fire in the evening. The kitchen is large - lots of counter space and an island with a second sink, making it easy to cook group meals. We love cooking and we've done our best to stock the kitchen with all the things you'll need during your trip, plus some! Two grills and a smoker are also available on the porch for cooking outside.

The master bedroom on the main floor has a comfy king-size bed and a private bathroom. A spare bedroom with a queen bed is also on the main floor, and a second full bathroom adjacent to the living space. The large mudroom with laundry facilities is perfect for stowing all your outdoor gear.

The second level of the house is a newly-finished upstairs loft apartment with a separate entrance and deck. This space has its own kitchen and full bathroom. The open floor plan includes a living space with a king-size bed and a small day bed, along with a comfortable futon that can be made up to accommodate larger groups. Baseboard heaters provide the space with plenty of heat, and the wood fire heat on the main floor also helps to keep the loft warm.

Both the upstairs and downstairs have large flatscreen TVs with Netflix, a DVD player, and high-quality Wi-fi internet (we just got fiber optic installed in Gibbonsville!). The SmartTV on the main floor offers just about every streaming service we know of. As far as other entertainment, the house is stocked with reading material, cards, and games.

There is no cell service in the area, but if your phone offers wi-fi calling and texting it's easy to stay in contact when you need to. If you need to work remotely, you'll enjoy the high-quality wi-fi we have despite our location in the remote Idaho woods!

For groups larger than ten (or those that don't include couples and/or children), cots and an air mattress are available to set up for your stay - just let us know what you need! Pets are welcome, just let us know how many are coming. We do charge a $15/pet fee per stay, $30 for two or more dogs.
Make yourself comfortable in this air-conditioned vacation home, featuring a kitchen with a refrigerator and an oven. There's a private balcony. A Smart television with Netflix is available for your entertainment, and a DVD player is also provided. Conveniences include a microwave and a coffee/tea maker.
Take in the views from a garden and make use of amenities such as barbecue grills.
Guests will find features like wireless internet access and onsite parking.

Excellent snowy retreat for Lost Trail skiing
Fabulously located, tidy & cozy cabin tucked next to the North Fork of the Salmon. Our group of 2 families fit perfectly in this comfortable cabin and had a great time driving the 15 minutes to ski at Lost Trail each day. We'll be back for sure!

Relaxing in the pine forest
This place had everything we needed to just relax and unwind. We spent lots of time on the porch looking at the trees and reading. When it got particularly warm (we were there during a heatwave), we stayed cool in the downstairs area with cooling ceiling fans and lots of comfy furniture. We played games on the huge dining room table, did a puzzle on the coffee table and had great movie nights on the giant TV screen. The kitchen had everything we need to make yummy meals. The beds were comfortable and it was great to have three bathrooms. While the cabin was close to the North Fork of the Salmon, we did have to drive (about 20 minutes) for fishing and rafting on the main Salmon River. The setting was beautiful and the house had everything we needed for a relaxing vacation!

Lost Trail Powder Dreams
Our family had such an amazing time at the powder house. It was probably 5 degrees when we checked in and the fireplace was already going for us!! What a nice surprise. The house was spotless and was stocked with everything you could want. Located only 15 minutes from lost trail but tucked in the woods and totally peaceful. Seth and Dove could not have been better to work with. You can tell they really care about their guests. With any luck, we will be back next year!!
