Holidays in Goristo

As all travellers know — a life full of surprises and adventure is a life well-lived. So dust off your passport, pack your gear and say hello to Goristo!

Russia's capital city, Moscow, lies 580 kilometres to the east of Goristo.

The nearby destinations of Nesteritsy and Kebsko are worth going to. They're located 6 kilometres northwest and 12 kilometres northwest away, respectively. Hop in a car and find out what's happening!

The Pskov Historical, Architectural and Art Museum Complex, Church of Intercession and Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God and Mirozhsky Monastery are all close to Lyubyatovo, 45 kilometres to the southwest. Want more reasons to visit? The Spegalsky Apartment Museum and the Lenin Memorial Museum are not far away either.

To truly experience a place is to try the local food and drink, so get ready to chew, chomp, sip and slurp your way around Pskov Oblast. The only thing you need to take with you is a robust appetite!

Want to know about some of the things that'll be dished up on your plate? There's a chance they'll include rye, oats or both.

You won't need too much persuading to order some lymonnyk (lemon pie), a treat that'll make you want to sever all ties and move here.

It can be hard to sort the wheat from the chaff when it comes to good beers, but one must-try brew is Baltika Premium Lager. Grab a glass and bottoms up!

Make it easier for your hosts by taking the time to learn a couple of expressions in the local language. First off the bat, try to get your mouth around 'A ty?'. It translates to 'fine thanks, and you?'. 'Pomedlennee, požalujsta!' ('please speak more slowly') is one more you might need.

What better way to learn about a place than by experiencing a day of national celebration? There'll be many festivities arranged for Russia Day on the 12th of June.

"Uvidimsya pozzhe" doesn't need to be so final. Why not save a few Russian rubles for when you come back?

From Goristo, it's roughly 210 kilometres to the north to Pulkovo Airport (LED). This is the closest airport. Make sure you allow yourself a bit of extra time to find your way there so you don't miss your flight back home.
