Sadly as in all seaside resorts, there are a lot of run down buildings and the area looks a bit sad however the St George Hotel offers a wonderful location just across the road from the beach and it has onsite safe parking which is limited however we had no problems finding a parking spot. The rooms are not luxurious by a long chalk however they make up for that by providing a fridge, microwave, bottled water, hairdryer, toiletries and the bedding was very clean as were the towels. Sadly the restaurant and bar has closed permanently which is a sign of the times but for a couple of nights it was fun to enjoy arcades, ice cream parlours, fish and chips and the beautiful beach.
The staff are Eastern European and they were all very friendly and welcoming. If you want 5 star, this is not for you but otherwise it’s great for a couple of nights.
Also, big shoutout for the model village on the promenade, it was really enjoyable and a lot of work has gone into it, well worth a visit and you are allowed a re-entry in the following 7 days.
