Heading to Menaldum, 18 kilometres northwest, is high on the list of many. There's plenty of things to keep you occupied here, including Planetarium and the Het Princessehof.

Nes Beach and Callantsoog Beach are great destinations if you fancy somewhere to kick back and relax.

You don't need to be on the road all day to see some nature around these parts. Just 45 kilometres out of Grou, De Boschplaat is a popular place to fill your lungs with fresh air. More picturesque surrounds await at Lauwersmeer National Park, 40 kilometres away.

There's nothing better than the atmosphere of a live soccer game! Watch the FC Groningen battle it out on their home turf at Euroborg, 50 kilometres away in Groningen.
