Trout Lake lakefront- Adirondack Foothills, Near SLU, SUNY Canton, and Clarkson

Relax in an open loft on Trout Lake located near the foothills of the Adirondack Park. Get away from the hustle and bustle and experience the beauty of this waterfront cottage. From the gorgeous, gently sloped, large yard, enjoys views of an unoccupied private island and the pristine lake. The cottage is nestled in a peaceful and serene wooded setting, directly on Trout Lake. It boasts beautiful whitewashed tongue and groove pine throughout with beautifully pitched ceilings that add a comfortable feel and warmth while maximizing the view of the Adirondacks.

The predominantly upstairs living has:

* Upstairs loft living room, kitchen and breakfast nook as well as a Queen and Full bed.

* Base level- garage portion has a bunk bed with full-sized bed on bottom and twin on top, a sofa conversion bed that converts to a Queen or 2 Twin Beds. It also has a game/common area with seating.

* Outdoor area- you will enjoy a large private yard, gas grill, picnic table, and fire pit with seating. There is almost 80 feet of water frontage with a wooden dock with plenty of room for your boat or jet ski. No boat or jet ski? Enjoy the lake with any of the provided paddle board, 2 sit on top kayaks, 1 sit in kayak, an 18-foot canoe, and paddle boat.

The lake water is clean and clear. You can swim off the dock, although it is fairly shallow and has some muck/sediment. Enjoy 2 sandy and quiet state beaches that only have hiking or waterfront access.

We encourage and appreciate your “5 STAR Review” and strive to deliver exactly as pictured/described/priced. This is not a $20M resort so please do not compare and rate as a comparison. This is a wonderful rustic cottage that most families will love. We will help in anyway we can within time and reason and go the extra mile for you.

Click the calendar link to see the available dates. Mandatory 7-day minimum rentals from JUNE-AUGUST. Check out Sunday 4PM checkout Sunday 11AM. If a full 7 days in not what you’re looking for please send an inquiry as I may be able to break up a week.

The following are some items to familiar yourself with the cottage:

FIRE PIT- some of the best time is spent with a hoodie and some bug spray next to a fire pit. Family, friends, and s’mores cannot be beat. Keep late night shouting and loud music to a minimum to keep neighbors happy.

WATER FUN- keep the ski boats slow in the “no wake zone” near shore. This allows safety for swimmers. Keep faster speeds for the open lake and deeper water. There is a state park with a sandy beach that is directly across the lake and easy to reach via boat/kayak/canoe. There are long hiking trails from the county road to the State Beach but is easiest to access via water. Rock Island is nearby the state beach. Enjoy jumping of the rocks into the deep water below!

Enjoy hiking, fishing, swimming, boating, snowmobiling, and hunting all from one cozy spot with a beautiful view!

Trout Lake stay
Came with our kids and friends. Our oldest was on leave from the military and we just wanted a chill place and we got it. We did come in the immediate aftermath of Beryl and many roads were flooded/washed out. The locals were so helpful in pointing out off the grid roads to help us get there. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. The downstairs was a bit on the damp side but we've camped in way worse. We just threw the kids down there...with a extra fan..They made a club house out of the entire thing. Come well supplied because the closet store is 23 miles away..but if you're experienced at planning meals it shouldn't be a problem. The lake itself is gorgeous, and lots of water items included.

Weekend retreat
The setting is lovely and the hosts are very accommodating. I will say to be careful when trying to swim off the shore. The mud is very deep and hard to get out of. I would recommend getting in and out of the water by using the dock and not trying to walk in and out. Kayaking was beautiful and there are plenty of them to use. Cottage has a renovated garage that serves as a very large and roomy sleeping area. It does get a bit damp and musty but we opened the windows and it was fine. Upstairs is very nice with lots of space and plenty of things stocked for your cooking needs. There is an alcove upstairs with a queen bed but it's not a separate bedroom. Again the hosts were terrific and it is a beautiful setting and very remote

Awesome Property!
We loved our stay on the lake! I didn’t know it was a loft or that it wasn’t actually 2 bedrooms. There was a bed in the living room, and beds down in the “basement” which was actually a garage. It got extremely hot downstairs, we couldn’t figure out the humidifier but other than that we had a blast! The paddle boards, peddle boat and kayaks were so fun, my kids had sooo much fun exploring the lake. Everything was well stocked in the house, it was super clean and Ashley was wonderful to communicate with! Thank you!

The Loft was a great choice!
We needed a place to stay near Gouverneur, NY while visiting a property we had purchased. We are glad we chose The Loft. Ashley, the host, thought of little details that made our stay feel more special. The candy from a local store, lifesaver mints, chilled mugs, and stocked paper products were just a few items that were appreciated. She also left a letter letting us know where we could buy items nearby. We found a Price Chopper in Gouverneur that was nice. Everything was super clean and nicely decorated. We had views of the lake and beautiful fall colors, but most of the time it was cold and rainy. Maybe next time we will enjoy the lake, but my husband did kayak on the only nice day. The queen bed upstairs had a memory foam topper of some sort that was very comfortable. My two boys slept downstairs and even had their own bathroom which was nice. There was plenty of sleeping downstairs. We had a few questions while there that were answered promptly. She even sent someone out to help us work the heater. The heaters work rather well by the way and heated each floor quickly. The electricity went off one night in the neighborhood but didn't affect us because of a generator that comes on in power outages. That saved the evening because we were getting ready to cook dinner. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at The Loft again. Ashley has done a great job of hosting this cottage on Trout Lake. We really appreciate her great service and attention to detail.

My friends and I had a great stay at this home! It's right on a beautiful lake and is perfect for a weekend away with a group. Ashley was also very responsive and even left some popcorn from a local shop for us! I would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking for some time in nature :)
