The reception staff were great.
Room was huge with 2 king size beds. Some of the furniture didn’t match, black table on one side of the room & wood everywhere else? The floor tiles in the bathroom were uneven with some grout missing and the bathroom door was sticking on the floor.
We loved the idea that if you stayed 2 nights or more and did not request your room to be made up you received a £5 voucher to spend at the bar, brilliant idea.
Bar area had some nice areas but quite dim in others.
Breakfast was good.
We paid to spend some time in the Romans spa which was lovely, the pool is great. The staff on the Romans reception were very helpful.
We stayed in room 146 which was a thoroughfare and we didn’t not sleep a wink for the 2 nights we were there. Awful room to stay in so avoid, spoilt our weekend away.

1. WiFi is awful - kept cutting out every few seconds - tried a different network provided by reception and that was the same
2. Rarely anyone visible at reception
3. Various litter lying around in corridors and even some in the corner of my room
4. Breakfast was ok, a little better than when I last stayed here
5. Very expensive given the standard but lack of decent alternatives nearby
This is probably the nicest hotel we have stayed in for a long time. Really clean room, good facilities, comfortable beds, great breakfast, really friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Can’t fault it.
Service not great Responsiveness was poor. Reception staff are not friendly, room service didn’t answer phone whole day. Breakfast colleagues were great.

Liked: Cleanliness
Disliked: Staff & service
The hotel was looking in need of a little TLC. Reception staff were fantastic, all but one Italian guy working the bar were average. and seemed like they didn't want to be there. Didn't use the spa facilities so cannot comment.
I booked our stay for a long waited spa break, the first night we were put into a twin room with beds put together. There was an issue with the air con and heating had to be turned off. 2nd day we got told they can only move us to a smaller room with disabled wash room. We said will stay in the same room instead. I asked for more blankets & duvets, my husband ended up with a migraine and coughing with a cold. We couldn’t get any availability for a massage & spa was busy all the time we were there, only one see pool one. We decided to come home yesterday, checked out at 4. Told the receptionist but said there’s nothing they can do even though we asked for a double room instead of twin. I hope there is something you can do for me. As the cold room left my husband and I with a cold and feeling poorly.
No reception staff on the desk. Very limited time for children to use the pool and always at meal times. Not convenient at all. Extra charges for using the pool only mentioned after booking.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
We stayed for one night as a family of three. On being checked in, we were told if we wanted to use the pool and gym facilities we would have to pay extra as we had booked through Expedia, this seemed a little non-inclusive and we were not quite sure why it mattered who you booked through!
We found our room, there’s lots of them, and although dated was clean and functional. It was clear that some of the corridors had been decorated and some were still to be done.
Breakfast was great with lots of options, plenty of seating and attentive staff.
I myself used the gym and pool facilities. On paying an extra £10 to enter I was offered only a towel whilst ‘other’ hotel guests were given robes and towels, this felt really non-inclusive again! Not only did I have to pay extra, I then had less to show for it!
Staff were all great and I assume are following protocols, but this system really made me feel I had less worth than the other guests.
Gym and pool were great, I also treated myself to a massage and that was amazing. All areas were really clean and tidy.

Fab hotel 👍
I really liked this hotel, plenty of staff with a nice bar, comfortable seating in quirky settings. Extra spa options sets this hotel apart and my Junior suite was impressive in size too.
Generally our stay worked out well. We had a couple of issues which were resolved. The lack of soap for the washbasin was easily resolved. The music from the bar floating up through our floor was more troublesome, but after some persistent complaining we were moved to a room far away from the bar which was very quiet. Otherwise the whole stay was very pleasant.
So would I stay again? Probably only if I could guarantee that my room would be away from the bar.
