Hotel was nice. There could be a couple updated things as in our bathroom. The wallpaper was all coming down. And it could be clean just a little bit better our bathroom shower had a few hairs in it, but I just cleaned it out myself. Otherwise it was fine and also they say soundproof rooms but you can hear everything as your door is not completely to the floor and you can see in the hallway and hear everyone all night.

There’s a very noisy soy plant other side of the highway but we were not disturbed in the night; whether it gets quieter at night or the room deadens enough I don’t know, but no concern. A nice Thai restaurant is nearby.

Chaz at the front desk was absolutely amazing. So kind with great hospitality. From the parking lot to our room, the hotel was clean. The surounding area was a little sketchy at first, and I thought it would be noisy, but it was not. We did not use the pool or eat the breakfast, but there was 24/7 coffee, tea and hot cocoa. The room was cozy and compact, but it was perfect for a mother/daughter get away. Centrally located to Saugutuck and Muskegon. We will definitly stay again.

Check-in took 15-20 minutes despite being the only guests checking in. After 5 minutes, when I asked if there was a problem with my reservation, the clerk raised his voice and was clearly frustrated. When he saw the surprised look on our faces for his outburst, he changed his tone and was a bit nicer. Not a friendly experience and very embarrassing for us as we stood there. We stayed 4 nights and noticed that they didn’t clean the room or bring fresh towels after the first day. We asked for our room to be cleaned on the next day - as the floor felt sandy and dirty to your feet. We were told if we wanted towels we would have to come down and get them. At the end of each day when we got back to the hotel our room was not cleaned - and each night we would ask that for our room to be cleaned. We were even told we were on their “list” for housekeeping to clean. And each night we would find the room not cleaned with dirty towels still on floor. Each night we were also told to come down stairs to get clean towels. The funny thing is that outside the elevators on the first floor is a large sign/mural highlighting a guarantee that your room will be good. When we checked out, we spoke with manager and shared our experience - to which he simply said sorry. He said they have been having “problems with housekeeping”. I’m not sure what the guarantee entails but it doesn’t appear that such a guarantee actually exists. I think there are better - perhaps more affordable - options nearby.

We were looking for a hotel at the last minute that was close to Saugatuck and Holland, but not too expensive, and the Avid checked all the boxes. The staff is incredible (especially Dee and Austin; so friendly and helpful). Loved the breakfast - easy to-go options with lots of choices. The hotel is contemporary and bright, which I like. We will be back.

It was a very minimalist and modern room. Exactly what we were looking for an overnight. The bathroom was a little stinky and the lights were too harshly bright. But would stay there again.

Chaz the magic man!
We were traveling due to a memorial service for the family and asked for a late checkout, Chaz was kind enough to help with that so that we could get ready and leave at 12:30pm which helped so much since we were coordinating with family. The hotel was very clean. I will say because there is a lack of carpeting you could hear your upstairs neighbors so i suggest the 4th floor. If in the area i would stay here again.

I loved everything about this hotel! The only suggestion I would have is putting more of a “homey” feel in the rooms like some art work or something, as they felt very minimalistic and stale at times.

Just wish the bathroom had a night light that came on by sensor rather than the main light and the mirror light because in the middle of the night you don’t want such a bright light to come on…
