Disappointed (again). So much about this Hilton is good, such as its location, food, staff and general finish, but basic things let it down. These might seem petty to some, but I don’t expect short dark hairs on the back of my toilet when I arrive, or a wash basin that doesn’t empty (mechanism broken), very poor toilet paper, and why do Hilton’s never have toilet brushes or air fresheners?
This time our ‘complimentary upgrade’ room was in ‘the new wing’ (a very long walk away). Ironically, this upgraded room was inferior to the standard room we had two weeks earlier in the older part. Ramps (trip hazards) at the entrance to the room and in between the bedroom and bathroom areas, the latter of which is especially risky in the dark (unless you want to wake your partner with a bright light in the middle of the night - Not a good idea in my case) aren’t helpful. These issues aren’t massive, but they are enough to make this otherwise pretty good hotel our last choice stay at Gatwick. If anyone at Hilton is interested, I took photos of the problem areas. Glad to share.
