Jia is a place that has plenty of cool stories to tell. If you reckon your life's been a bit dull lately, a trip here is the perfect answer!

It sits 400 kilometres north of New Delhi, the national capital of India.

Venture beyond Jia and get ready to enjoy some lovely natural sights. Just 17 kilometres away, Dal Lake is a popular place to take in some fresh air. Also consider checking out Bhagsu Waterfall, 25 kilometres away from Jia.

The best snow of the day is in the morning, so set your alarm early the night before heading to Solang Valley.

Make your way over and see what is waiting to be discovered at the Gopalpur Zoo.

Into stopping at the Shiva Temple and the Jawali Ji Temple? They're right near the middle of Gopalpur, 3 kilometres to the south. Alternatively, travel to Jadrangal. It's 5 kilometres to the west of Jia and popular for the Norbulingka Institute and Sherbling.

Plan on going to Dharamshala? This place is 12 kilometres to the northwest. If you're staying here a while, make sure you visit the Dalai Lama's Residence, the Ayuskama Ayurveda Institute and Kangra Art Museum. Also consider stopping by the Kunal Pathri Temple and the Dharamsala War Memorial.

Be sure to mark the 26th of January in your schedule. In Jia this means just one thing — Republic Day. A notable day of celebrations, this is a terrific time of year to be in the country.

If you're flying back, it's a good idea to plan your route to the terminal in advance. From the middle of Jia, you'll need to travel approximately 160 kilometres west to Raja Sansi International Airport (ATQ), the nearest airport.
