Yep. Southeast Alaska is kinda off the beaten track. But let's get real, who wants to do the touristy thing anyway? Besides, there's plenty to discover in this gorgeous region (not least of all its impressive forests, mountains and glaciers). Base yourself in Kake and you can suss it all out from there.

The country's capital, Washington, can be found 4,500 kilometres to the east of Kake.

The close-by localities of Rowan Bay and Angoon are worth visiting. They're located 40 kilometres southwest and 55 kilometres northwest away, respectively. Hop in a car and see what's happening!

An invigorating way to experience the wider region is to go on an outdoor adventure. Snowmobiling is one of the most popular pastimes here. But if that's not quite what you're after, there's always hiking.
