Tired of being an armchair traveller? Keen to experience the real deal? Kaz is the perfect place to start. You'll find it sitting among the magnificent forests, rivers, streams and lakes of Kemerovo Oblast. (You'll have to step off the beaten path a little, but isn't that what travelling is all about?)

It's 3,200 kilometres southeast of Moscow, the country's capital.

Looking for some other close-by localities? Perevalochnyy is about 4 kilometres to the south, so get in the car and start exploring! Alternatively, Amzas, 13 kilometres southwest of Kaz, is also worth a day trip.

You may have the urge to stay in Ostrovskaya Ploshchadka for a bit. This destination is 85 kilometres to the northwest and pretty close to the Novokuznetsk Puppet Theater Skaz, the Gallery of Siberian Art and the Novokuznetsk Art Museum. Other nearby attractions are the History Museum of Siberian State Industrial University and the Memorial Museum of Military and Labor Glory of Kuznetsk Metallurgists.

Picnicking and bird watching are two nice ways to give yourself some time out and get some Vitamin D.
