We stayed for 3 nights. Arrived 30 minutes late as our plane left Dubai nearly 3 hours later than scheduled. Dinner had been booked, staff at reception advised the restaurant. Meals were amazing, we both had steaks. Reception very inviting and clean, rooms clean. The doormen always spoke and helped with baggage as well as directions when needed. Walking distance to everything York has to offer. Would highly recommend staying at The Grand York. 10/10

The plumbing system is either old or not well maintained. The water in the bath tub and sinks takesca while to drain out leaving a residue behind. The taps are a little hard to operate. Our international adapters did not work in the electric sockets even though they were perfect in London. The hotel had none to offer. The breakfast is elaborate but you can get a great one at half price at a 5 minute walk. Disappointed.

Really lovely welcome on arrival. The room was nice and big, a little dated but nice all the same. Very clean. It was my husband's 50th so they left some nice chocolates in the room as a gift which was nice, and they gave him a birthday badge. The breakfast was the most delicious breakfast I've ever had at a hotel. It was perfect to celebrate my husband's birthday and the staff are really friendly.

Stayed here a number of years ago. This was a special trip for my 50th. My wife emailed the hotel to let them know about my birthday. On arrival, we went to our suite, in all honesty it was very disappointing. The room was souless, the pictures on the walls, badly working carpet. Like a very large travelogue room.

ask - original rooms v. new section

Stay was fine, but we did not know until after check in and the 5 min walk to a different part of the hotel that we were put in rooms far from the lobby in a new section of the hotel. Would have liked to be asked if we preferred the original charming part of the hotel which was why we chose it.
