Used this as stopover hotel on way up to boat so didn’t get to enjoy its fantastic location. Everything about hotel really lovely except having to queue for a very long time to get seated for breakfast. This seemed to be caused by staff shortage as hotel quite full. Breakfast itself was lovely!

We use the Castle Green hotel often and always feel comfortable and welcomed by the staff. The rooms are spotless and well equipped and those at the front of the hotel have a view over the beautiful garden.

Business Trip with also a relaxing day
Fantastic hotel, highly recommended. Staff friendly and welcoming. Plenty of parking spaces. Food was delicious in the greenhouse restaurant and breakfast was superb, with plenty of choice. Pub also on site but we didn’t get a chance to go as we were only there for one night this time. We will definitely be returning.

Great short stay
Very enjoyable stay. Room had been recently re-fitted, very comfortable and had plenty of storage and power points for charging devices. Service from staff was excellent and really enjoyed our meal in the restaurant. Don’t know if it is hotel policy, but it was great to stay in a hotel without having to put up with other peoples badly behaved mutts, if this is the policy, please keep it up, the hotel was far cleaner than some other so called luxury hotels I have stayed at that allow dogs. Would certainly go back.

Nice hotel with all amenities
Well located hotel 20-25 mins walk from Kendall main streets. Large hotel with plenty parking, 2 restaurants, pool, function suites and a separate pub/eatery with beer garden in the lovely grounds (focus certainly more on eating, a bit pricey for just drinking) Although there was a wedding taking place the room was very quiet, well appointed and comfortable bed. Good choice of food at breakfast served fresh and quickly even when busy. Certainly one of the better Best Westerns stayed at and with welcoming staff. Would certainly recommend.

Castle Green overnight stay
Hotel based just outside of Kendal, with own grounds and plenty of parking, would be lovely in the sunshine. The reception staff were friendly, the room was clean and the bed comfortable, breakfast was good. I was disappointed with dinner, the food was fine but basic pub quality, this could be better. Also only one small TV available to watch sport, is in the separate bar restaurant.

Pleasant accommodations and pleasing staff! Issues and requests promptly handled. No complaints, and my appreciation to all the staff. However, the hotel should have their own shuttle service into town and the short distances to the train stations at Kendal and Oxenholme. Because I need a cane and have other mobility issues, it is too far to walk into town and the return is up a steep road from Kendal. Further, contorting myself into tiny Kendal taxis was difficult and painful. Fortunately, taxi rides to and from the hotel are not too expensive (but they are not necessarily available during rush hours) and the taxi service itself is (excepting my accessibility issues) is reasonably good. Finally--and this is just my opinion--the ambition of the menus in the hotel restaurants exceeds the capabilities of their kitchen. The food they served was acceptable, but I did not look forward to eating there.

The rooms are dated and there was mould on the windows in our room. The breakfast is good, but the food in the ‘pub’ attached to the hotel was average at best. On arrival the room had pastry crumbs the floor and bed. After reporting this, the staff cleaned the room again which had us wait a further hour to get into our room. In sum the hotel is expensive for the dated rooms. The staff were friendly but we would not recommend or visit here again.
