Nice pub full of character, room a bit tired but clean and good size family room. Location perfect for us, right in the centre of kendal, staff friendly, great breakfast too! We would definitely come back to the Shakespeare.

Perfect in every way. The team at The Shakespeare are the best. The archway you need to drive through to the car park is tight, but the team were fab at navigating you in. All part of the charm.

Shakespeare Inn, Kendal
No complaints about the one night stay. Room was very clean with new fittings and the breakfast was good. Tight through the gateway to the courtyard parking but it was manageable enough in a Hyundai I20. Very peaceful at night due to the rooms in the courtyard being away from the main road. Would definitely stay here again if the Kendal area.

I had a lovely stay here, although rushed due to travelling ! The staff on check in was absolutely lovely, and provided me an ice bucket so i could safely store breast milk. The accommodation was clean and quite large, i had a very comfortable stay there. I appreciated the outdoor access rather than staying IN the pub (if that makes sense!) . I came back around midnight, and the adjacent venue was not loud or rowdy, and i had a wonderful sleep. Unfortunately i can’t comment on breakfast, as i had to leave before enjoying any! But i know there was a separate breakfast room to the pub. thank you for a lovely stay!

I'm afraid our stay at The Shakespeare Inn wasn't very good. The room itself was fine, but the bathroom had some odd brownish substance on the threshold between the room and the bathroom that got trailed into each room if it was stepped in. It took until our second day to realize where that was coming from. The bathroom itself wasn't very clean and one of the towels had an odd substance on it. The alley outside the rooms could be noisy and people out there would smoke, so we didn't want to open our windows, which didn't give the room a chance to air out. The staff were friendly and helpful. We requested a clean towel which they gladly gave us, but didn't mention the brown goo until check out.

I booked this hotel for a birthday present for my father in law and his wife. But they found that the bed was very damp and checked out 2 hours after checking in. So never stayed the night. And as they are old school never complained or told the management about the problem.

10/10 all the way!! Stayed for 2 night business trip, I was informed that on the first night that food wasn’t been served but I was recommended another pub just up the road, I wasn’t disappointed with the recommendation. I ate in the restaurant on the 2nd night and the food was amazing, the service was first class, before I’d sat down and picked up a menu I’d had a pint put in front of me, I didn’t even need to ask, the bar man remembered from the previous night, the breakfast was also outstanding, freshly cooked and tasty, the staff member looking after breakfast was also exceptional. The room was spacious and warm, nice little touches such as biscuits and a proper mug rather than a tea cup, parking is tight but with a bit of care it wasn’t a problem..I usually head out to Windermere whe I work the lakes, no more this is going to be my my first choice from now on!!

We found tyhe hotel but there was no parking nearby. My husband stayed in the car while i checked in. Our room was outside, up some stairs. I asked where we parked and was told through the opening on to the rear. Our car was a foot wider than the entrance. Was told to drive to s car park and walk to the hotel. We canceled

A snug room but was nice, clean and comfortable with good amenities (tea and coffee in room), great for a one night stopover. The staff were really helpful and the breakfast was also good. The car park entrance/exit is very tight!

Excellent stay, staff were fantastic.
We had a lovely stay here at the Shakespeare Inn. Rooms are away from the busier high streets. We had a quiet nights sleep. Staff are very friendly and accommodaating.
