Stunning clifftop Farmhouse in Bigbury-on-Sea, cosy with spectacular sea views

Mount Folly Farm House is set on the cliff top commanding spectacular views.
Bigbury-on-Sea is a small coastal village on Devon's South Coast. It has large sandy beaches, rock pools and is safe for swimming. It is also a great place for walking, along the beach, across the farm, over to Burgh Island at low tide or around the River Avon.
It has all the local services that you could want with a beach cafe, a pub, a beach shop, village stores and even a golf club!
But you can just stay at home and enjoy the breathtaking views from the garden.
The accommodation is half of the large Edwardian farmhouse, is completely self contained, with its own garden area and several parking spaces.
Upstairs:
The main bedroom has 1 king size and 1 single bed and a wash basin.
There is another double room with a wash basin. The third bedroom has bunk beds.
Also Family Bathroom (bath with shower over).
Downstairs openplan:
Modern Fitted Kitchen with dining table - (Microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, toaster, electric cooker)

There are so many great restaurants and pubs nearby, The Journey's End, The Dolphin, The Oyster Shack, The Ring Feeder, The Pilchard Inn on Burgh Island, The Modbury Inn. In addition there are many more summer takeaways also.

So much to do locally, great watersport and surf lesson / board & wetsuit hire from Discovery Surf on our nearest beach. You can wander over to the famous Art Deco Burgh Island at low tide and walk to the top for the best views of the coastline. And if the tide is in you can catch the Sand Tractor for an exciting ride back to the mainland. There's super family fun at Pennywell Farm visitor centre and thrilling rides at Woodlands Theme Park, near Dartmouth. Guided wild swimming/ swooshing on the river or around Burgh Island. SUP options on the river Avon or in Kingsbridge estuary or at Bigbury beach. Dartmoor Zological Park ( featured in the film, "We bought a zoo!"). River cruise the Kingsbridge estuary down to the popular seaside town of Salcombe, visit the bijoux Salcombe boutiques and avoid having to find somewhere to park ! There are also many attractions at Plymouth, the historic Barbican, Smeaton's Tower on the Hoe, the Royal William Yard, Mount Edgecombe and The National Marine Aquarium. There's a miniature ride on train at Kingsbridge which is a delight for all ages, and the shops at Kingsbridge are great for groceries or having a mooch for gifts & clothing. And golf, we are a couple of minutes away from Bigbury Golf Club and just around the coast there is Thurlestone Golf Club, so two outstanding 18 hole courses, with breath taking sea views on your doorstep.

Mount Folly Farm
A family of grandparents, parents and young children, we all loved our stay at Mount Folly Farm. We felt entirely welcome in this warm and cosy property and it was lovely to return to at the end of the day. The house was immaculately clean and very well equipped. The views were unsurpassable, as were the beaches, with large sandy areas, small coves and rock pools. There are endless walks and the wildlife is incredible.

Idyllic weekend stay - we will be back!
This stay exceeded all expectation. Firstly, communication with Jane and Cathy was brilliant and they were so welcoming even prior to our stay. Upon arrival, Jane was there to greet us and was absolutely charming in person, making us feel right at home in an instant. The first thing that immediately grabs you is the view - stunning. The house itself then continues to charm, feeling at once cozy yet spacious. The place was immaculate, with a well open-plan living/dining/kitchen area, whereby the kitchen was extremely well equipped with modern appliances. The bedrooms were lovely; well furnished, comfy beds and clean lines. In short, we did not want to leave!

Warm, comfortable and spacious rooms and a well-equipped kitchen, this made the perfect base for our surfing trip. Outdoor hose and line for washing and drying kit was great and it was lambing time so that was a delight to see! John & Jane are just lovely, welcoming and friendly they made sure we had everything we needed and lovely to have a chat with. Can't wait to go back!

Stunning view, spacious, wonderful location
This is a wonderful, family-sized farmhouse; beds were comfortable and we all slept very well. Our children were very happy with the outdoor space and we enjoyed an evening drink over-looking the estuary in the sunshine. We didn’t know much about the property and facilities prior to our trip but I was able to locate this property on another site to find an email to contact the owner. It’s good to know that new Covid regulations mean check-in is only at 5pm and checkout is very early at 9am for cleaning. There’s also an electric meter so take £1 coins. The kitchen had electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. There’s also a washing machine. A line outside and hose really helped with rinsing wetsuits at the end of the day on the beach. We had such a great time and would certainly return! The house was so comfortable, large and the views breathtaking!

Amazing Holiday
Arrived to a warm welcome and couldn't fault the accommodation. Our half of the farmhouse was huge and all the comforts of home. The view from the secluded garden of the beach and estuary were amazing and sat outside whenever the weather allowed for all our meals. Although the owners lived in the other half of the farmhouse they just popped by a couple times to check all was ok which was nice. All in all a lovely place to stay and highly recommend.
