Lucky to have a beautiful property so we tried overlooking the shambles of a once renowned hotel. Very dirty rooms and rude people who do not care about this place. First room was disgusting, I genuinely don’t think they’ve ever heard of bleach - so inspect the toilet, especially for urine. Second room the toilet quit working after a week, so asked us to move to another room again. Used ice bucket to flush toilet. Pool was full of algae at the bottom so super slippery and gross to walk, but we prefer the ocean more anyway as we’re on an island for that reason. We adapted to just be grateful that the bed was made, although when they finally changed the sheets they didn’t replace 3 of 4 pillow cases so I went to ask for more and even the desk lady said that was super strange. We can’t figure if they’re high, severely incompetent, or treated so poorly that they don’t see a reason to care. One of us lived here over a decade ago and the other grew up in the jungle, so we’ve experienced severe storms, power outages, etc. - we don’t expect everything to be perfect and beautiful and natural disasters happen but we work super hard to spend lots of money to be here and relax, only to leave property to have peace. I wouldn’t dare go to the restaurant. Experience the real food that this island has to offer. Roti Hut, Chicken Shack, and Galangal are some of the best. Don’t bother with the kitchenette unless you really want to cook/microwave. There was one fork/spoon/knife anyway.
