You get what you paid for. Great for backpackers. Not for the picky travellers. Cheap, amazing local food everywhere! The staff are accommodating, especially Ms. Kathy.
I stayed there for only day time, its cheap but I'd better pay a bit more and go other places.

Jesselton cabin
The staff was the best part, they were lovely. The hotel however was under some renovations and wasn't too nice or clean. The location was also really good. The other thing is that I booked online and it was called Jesselton cabin but when I got there it was the north Borneo cabin and so I searched for a very long time.

Pretty average
This hostel was ok. Nothing special but not bad. We had a double room on the first floor. It was a large room but pretty basic. The downside was you had to walk through the shared lounge and breakfast area to get to the shower and toilet. I would also say when we were there it was just guys staying and so my wife felt a little uncomfortable when they were all in the lounge and she needed to use the shower. It wasn't a particularly friendly hostel but we might have been unlucky. The wifi was a bit pitchy but ok, the toast for breakfast was pretty good, the staff were helpful if you asked specific questions and location was ok for getting around town. The shower was also pretty naff. It's not bad but when we returned to KK we chose to stay somewhere else.
Good location helpfull staff basic but fine breakfast hot showers overall would defently stay again

Great stay
Great location, clean facilities, helpfull staff, basic breakfast.
Sunday mornings can't get a lay in as Sunday market is set up very early on this street.
Owner let us leave our luggage for 3 days while we went on a moped to the tip of Borneo with no charge, great place to stay.
We arrived late after a long day travelling. First impressions were not great. The hostel is on the first floor up some steps and is run down. We were shown our room on the first floor which was off the main lounge where it was pretty noisy with people drinking. We were so tired and wanted to sleep so we asked for another room and were given one upstairs. The room was so much worse but at least it was quieter that first night. Note all of the rooms in this hostel are off social areas which are very noisy both nights even with ear plugs our sleep was disturbed by guests. The hostel is very run down and needs refurb. The bathrooms feel grimy even though I saw the cleaner giving them a very thorough clean. Internet is not great but air con worked well. The second floor could do with some more sinks because at busy times you sometimes had to wait. We couldn't wait to leave this hostel and I'm not sure why it scores so highly.
Great value for this price! Friendly staff, great location, walking distance from Jesselpoint ferry terminal. They also organise trips.

Great stay in NB Cabin
I have been to different Hostels in Gaya and It is so far my best experience. The rooms and people are quite nice. The common area is large. The location is very good and convenient with cheap food and easy access to the city. The staff is helpful and I was happy to get a good price to climb Mt Kinabalu. I definitely recommend this place.
great place to stay, to meet other travelers and to chat with the family who runs that place.
location is absolutely convenient with restaurants right in front of the door and a supermarket 3min away.
only thing I didnt like were the beds, wasnt really confy due to thin matrasses
It has been a short stay, but I loved it.
You feel well there, and the super friendly staff and vibe account a lot for it.
I enjoyed meeting the staff and sharing stories of Borneo.
Lockers + Breakfast + Tea/Coffee + Storage room + Easy 24h check in/out.
I honestly recommend. Thank you Jesselton Cabin.
