First time booking a hotel in Shangrila but is it actually a normal protocol to have cleaning staff come barging in a room if after few knocks no one answers? Kind of an unusual experience for us especially when we put in the do not disturb sign. Luckily, my husband is there and the cleaning lady just said, "hi, you want coffee?". Weird, when there's literally a coffeemaker in the room. We called it in the front desk and we got a return call from the manager stating its a normal protocol to come in and "check" the room if no one answers. Honestly I dont think its normal protocol and definitely would not be booking here again for safety and privacy reasons.

Shangrila did not want to honor the Black Friday price that Hotels.com offered. They pushed the blame on Hotels.com and said that Expedia did not notify them of the discounted price that we received and secondly, they told me to get the difference of the price back from Expedia. We had reserved 3 rooms. Yeah right, Expedia will not give us a refund on the difference of the price because I had not paid for the room yet. We paid only after checking out. They lied! Finally, the staff called the manager and they honoured the price that Expedia/Hotels.com offered. Fortunately, I had brought a receipt with the prices per night that Expedia sent to me. It was proof.

End of year holidays Hong Kong.
Very helpful concierge and door man who went out of their way to help us with directions to our destination . And he actially went out of his way to provide us wirh two cans of drinking water as it was a sunny day! The person who came up with the idea of dessert after dark at the lobby lounge deserves a pat on the back. The coconut with milk was superb and with a live duet playing in the background, it was a fantastic way to wind down for the day after a full day of exploring and shopping.

Our second Shangri-La hotel on this trip. The in room check in was very nice after a long day of travel. You cannot beat the views of Hong Kong and the harbor from our harbor view suite. The car service between the airport and hotel is exceptional

The hotel is excellent. The only thing I can say is that I cannot believe that they are charging me for using a shower cap while it is part of the amenities and there is no notes that due to environmental Compliance that they would charge the shower cap as it is made out of plastic. If that is the case, don't make it as part of the hotel amenities.
