When chucking a sickie becomes way too easy, it's time to abandon the corporate treadmill and say hello to Kuru!

Finland's capital city, Helsinki, lies approximately 200 kilometres to the south of Kuru.

You don't have to be stuck inside a car all day to see a bit of nature. Just 25 kilometres out of Kuru, Seitseminen Nature Centre is a lovely place to sit back and unwind. More idyllic surrounds await at Viikinsaari Island, 40 kilometres away.

No ice hockey fan will want to miss out on a visit to Tampereen Jaahali, located 40 kilometres away in Tampere. Check the schedule to find out when they're playing. If you miss them, why not catch the stadium's other home team, the Tappara?

After some additional close-by localities? Ruovesi is about 20 kilometres to the northeast, so hop in the car and start exploring! Alternatively, Hyytiälä, 30 kilometres east of Kuru, is also worth the journey.

Kaleva Church, Sarkanniemi and Tampere Cathedral are all really close to Tampere, 40 kilometres to the south. Want some more reasons to stop by? Nasinneula Tower and the Tampere Art Museum aren't far away either.
