Awesome place to stay for a few days in Kyoto as a foreigner. Close to some late-night food options, and nearby the train/bus station for easy access to the various activities in Kyoto. It was fun staying in a ryokan, the staff was extremely helpful, and the hotel itself was very clean and new-feeling. Would stay here again if I return to Kyoto.
My family and I stayed for one night to experience a ryokan stay. The rooms were minimal, but clean and comfortable.
We enjoyed the kaiseki dinner and breakfast. There was a lot of food and it was filling. It was the perfect stop from Osaka before heading to Tokyo the next day.
Great staff! Very polite, accommodating and welcoming. The Ryokan was very clean and quiet. The onsen wa great too! I know it’s public but the times I went to the Onsen, was the only one there. The traditional Japanese breakfast was also great. It compliments the traditional Japanese stay I wanted to experience.
You are greeted in a friendly manner and experience a Japanese tea ceremony with delicious cookies. The staff are nice especially the ones that serve breakfast every morning. The front seat is picky about their room keys and will make you walk back to the room to get them which I didn’t like. The room is exceptionally clean and you do experience the ryokan positively.
Nowy, stylowo urządzony i bardzo komfortowy hotel w stylu ryokan z gorącymi źródłami. Przestrzenny pokój z wygodnymi materacami. Wspaniała i pomocna obsługa. Oryginalne śniadania w japońskim stylu. Hotel jest bardzo blisko dworca, wielu restauracji, sklepów i atrakcji turystycznych.
Beautiful ryokan. You are greeted with tea and sweets. Room was spotless, quiet and comfortable even though you are sleeping on the floor. Japanese breakfast was so healthy and delicious. Wish I had stayed more than one night!
Beautiful Ryokan. If you wish to experience a nice Ryokan while exploring Kyoto you can not go wrong here. Beautiful rooms and facilities. Very quiet and quaint. 5 minute walk from Kyoto Station and plenty of restaurants in the area to choose from. Will come again when i come back to the area.
I loved the whole ryokan experience. Even before my stay the staff had responded to my email inquiries. The place was clean and nice. I would definitely stay there should I find myself in Osaka again.
Pros - wonderful staff, being welcomed with tea & biscuits was a cute way to start. Very clean, great rooms. A fantastic way to experience a ryokan if you haven't before.
Cons - futons are hard if you're not used to them and the pillows were small.
I loved my stay and Ryoken Ginkaku. From the moment we walked in the door, the staff was friendly and extra attentive. They great you with a welcome tea, where you can sit by the small but beautiful tranquil garden. I was really surprised by how big and spacious our room was. Also, It was spotless!! I know that should be the standard, but this place just really felt like home. My husband and I didn’t want to leave. I highly recommend selecting the dinner and breakfast option with your room, so you can experience a delicious and tradition Japanese meal. The last thing is the public bath. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to try it out, but so glad I did. My body felt completely relaxed and I was able to unwind from a long travel day. If public baths aren’t your thing, they have private baths for an additional charge. Overall, I loved my stay and I absolutely loved the staff. Thank you for a wonderful experience during my time in Kyoto!
