I have visited Japan and Kyoto multiple times, and overall, my experiences have been very positive. There was even a taxi driver who went above and beyond to help me find a restaurant under Kyoto Station. However, a single incident can ruin an otherwise pleasant stay.
I liked the hotel overall, but my experience was marred by the front desk staff member named Natayama. The manager should easily identify her from my stay from 7/1-4. She was unfriendly, did not stand up to greet us, and instead just stared at us with a rude expression. She treated us not as guests but almost as if we were thieves. This happened not only to me but also to my wife. When I asked her for more towels, it took a long time to receive them, and there was no communication in the process. It felt very rude!
I travel around the world and can discern when there is discrimination. I find this kind of attitude unacceptable. It's a good hotel overall, but the customer service was very rude (specifically, Natayama).
