For any westerners coming from the U.S., this is a typical and traditional hotel you are used to. While the rooms are a bit smaller for what you would expect, it is still plenty of space unless you are dragging a ridiculous amount of luggage with you. The hotel is in a great location, good 15 minute walking distance to the Gion District and a great spot in the city overall. Any time I am back in Kyoto I will definitely stay here.

Super convenient location! Although my room was a little small so recommend getting a larger room if you’re staying as a pair. The pillows are also quite flat, even after stacking 2 together. It will be better if they offered a soft and hard pillow to choose from. That aside we had a good stay

Good location in the shopping area, hotel rooms are relatively quiet considering it is a busy area. Staff are friendly and helpful. The room could have been a little cleaner (dried things on the walls and a bit dusty) but otherwise a decent place to stay if you want to be in a good shopping area.
