The loudest hotel in the world

Staff were excellent and grounds are gorgeous. Everything else was rough. Our room was extremely loud with river and animal noise. We couldn’t have a conversation in the room at all, anywhere, without yelling. We didn’t sleep the two nights we were there because it was so loud. Seriously, every night was like Bigfoot, a hyena and a dozen monkeys were partying all night, breaking branches, banging on the roof…the room condition also wasn’t great. The blinds and fans in the bedrooms didn’t work. There are bugs everywhere (normal for the area). We only had two days in the area and felt like they were ruined because we were so sleep deprived we couldn’t enjoy the area’s many activities. My daughter was sick (made worse by sleep deprivation) so we ordered some plain rice for her from room service, along with my dinner. My food was delivered (after over a hour) but hers never came. Finally, after two hours and many messages, it was delivered. I’ve stayed at hotels all over the world and am accustomed to the occasional noisy places but this noise couldn’t even be covered with a white noise machine on blast.

We spent at week in our bungalow and it was like being in the middle of the jungle. At the same time, the grounds were beautiful. The restaurant had wonderful options and the staff was friendly and helpful.

The property for what we paid was “okay” but had the potential to be a great resort . The room we were allocated was very tired and needed a refresh and lacked tea and coffee making facilities . I should note that there was an outdoor kitchen nearby but did not have milk , sugar etc. Some rooms are near a fast flowing river which is extremely noisy (this may not bother everyone). The resort is quite large and could do with being signposted. The pool area was good. Breakfast was great and it was an added perk that this was included in our rate. Strangely and this has never happened before, the hotel requested a USD500 deposit to be held which was super excessive and exceeded the cost of the hotel. The onsite spa is very reasonably priced and the massages are highly recommended.

My family loved at our stay at Casa Del Rio. Everything was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. Only complaint was the water slide was not running while we were there, but we loved our private hot tub on our patio! Would definitely stay again.

Staff were attentive to any questions or issues we had and were there right away. We arrived in the dark and were told we would get a tour of the property the next day but never received that. We toured ourselves and the property is quite pretty, some construction happening while there. The restaurant was okay.. we had better food off the resort. The resort itself is gated which made it feel very safe and the rooms are very private which was nice!

Medíocre hotel

Upon check in we were gold out room was not ready. We had to wait 30 min past check in. The staff was rude and acted u friendly and put out. the balcony overlooked a construction site on the premises. Toilet Leaked and comunication with staff poor. Restaurant was good.

Family vacation

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Hotel property and grounds are quiet, secure and beautiful. Our room (Barracuda) is a very large two bedroom with plenty of space right above the river. Enjoyed morning and evenings on the patio with the river roaring in the background. Delicious daily breakfast included made for an easy start to each day. Great proximity to La Fortuna town and activities.

Excellent stay

Really lovely hotel! The room was spacious, the property was beautiful and green, very close to the river. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was fantastic. We stayed there for 3 nights and really enjoyed the breakfast and dinner. The restaurant staff was very helpful and gracious. Shout out to Summer from the restaurant who was very kind and friendly and provided excellent service and menu suggestions!

What a wonderful stay in the rainforest next to a river…..staff were so helpful and the restaurant had delicious food. The grounds are beautiful and lit up at night to feel so magical. $4.00 cab ride to Fortuna. We will definitely return.

This property is a beautiful oasis, off the beaten path. The property is gated for security. The grounds are breathtaking. The room was large, comfortable and well maintained. The staff at check in was efficient and friendly. You get free breakfast with your room. It’s a generous meal with coffee, juice, fresh fruit, pastries along with your choice of a full delicious entree. The dining room is beautiful and inviting , with views of Arenal Volcano. But the highlight of Casa del Rio has to be the staff at the restaurant. They were kind and warm and most of all patient! I cannot recommend this hotel enough.
