Arriving to La Maddalena was not the easiest of feats at first; not knowing Italian, maneuvering the public transportation system from Olbia to Palau proved to be a little difficult. But once arriving to La Maddalena I was very fortunate to have met the property manager for Le Vele, Melinda, and instantly I felt at home! Kind, caring, and best of all fluent in English, she was so accommodating and helpful. Over the course of my stay I literally would have been completely lost without her help, and I am forever grateful for the time that she took to make me feel at home and how she helped me maneuver around the difficulties of not speaking Italian.
The apartments are spacious and fully-equiped, and despite few differences, they feel just like home. The island itself is completely amazing. There are crystal-clear waters, immense sea life, and some of the most breath-taking views you could possibly imagine! And with the city-center a short walk away, as well as public transportation most days, you're simply a stone's throw away from your ideal paradise. If you don't have a car rented, then be ready to learn about public transportation or do a lot of walking. It's not necessary for local outings, but if you plan on frequenting the beaches, especially in the off-season as I did, you've got a good day of hiking ahead of you. I most definitely will be back and I would suggest this to anyone who is looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
