I was in Laguna Beach for a conference and, as my daughters booked 14 West as the recommended hotel had only King rooms available. The location was excellent and within close proximity to Main Beach and Laguna shopping so that my daughters would be sufficiently occupied while I was at my conference. Everything was fine until I received several frantic messages from the hotel manager, John stating they were having issues with my credit card payment. I visited the front desk where I was told that my bank had flagged my account for fraud, preventing any charges. I attempted to contact my bank but they were closed, so I promised to contact them in the morning prior to leaving for my conference to resolve the issue. John knocked on the room door at 10:30pm, waking my daughters and demanded to have an alternate form of payment. I gave him another credit card but asked that he he not charge it before I had the opportunity to resolve the fraud hold with my bank in the morning. Not only did he go ahead and charge my card, but it turns out that the reason my bank flagged for fraud was because the person at the desk entered my card information incorrectly 3 separate times, so they blocked it, suspecting that they were attempting fraud. In the morning,I went to the hotel front desk with my banker on the phone to rectify this issue. Never received an apology or callback from John and the walkways were filthy & blow dryer didn’t work in bathroom. Next time, we’ll book Casa Loma or Montage.
