Great for the price but noisy
The location is great, the price is great, the staff is helpful and friendly, they have a microwave, utensils and water available if you’re trying to save a few bucks by not eating out for every meal. However, I slept with earplugs in and still barely got any sleep because of all the noise both in the building and outside. The place is really beat up and the price you pay is reflected in the condition of the rooms. If you are saving money and want to enjoy Laguna Beach, this is a good spot, just anticipate the noise.

GREAT LOCATION BUT NEEDS SOME REPAIRS
Service was great upon arrival. Location was great. Bed was comfortable. Our room was located right next to the pool equipment, so it was a bit noisy. The room needed some repairs as the bathroom door and baseboards were rotted out. The shower leaks all over the bathroom floor. The room smelled damp & musty.

well...1st half was rough...checking was hard for us since front desk didn't tell us about or handicap space options. would have save A TON OF TIME AND PHYSICAL PAIN...then to boot NO WORKING HOT TUB or anything to soak in. which was expressed and noted with sonder months before checking in for 2 weeks. was not relaxing especially when fire alarm was pulled and was extreme loudness for over an hour at 130am! the establishment failed to provide fire department with an emergency shut off key so the whole hotel was awake. I documented more things to be noted if anyone cares to follow up and refund us. Staff was ultimately kind. Minus lack of maintenance workers. We appreciate mostly everything when hot tub did work.

I felt Sonder was trying to be unique with the room reservation , sign in, parking , codes to the room ect being all online and through the app but it wasn’t done well. So much so I was very uncomfortable going there as it was such a new way of making a reservation . The rooms were just ok. Photos make them look prettier . We couldn’t get room service unless requested 24 hrs in advance in which we did and no one still came to clean. To get extra toilet paper or towels there was a self serve area … just odd. Not to mention they expect you to remember a 6 digit code to access your room .. altogether it was VERY noisy with traffic and we wouldn’t go back. For the price we can have a hotel you can actually speak with , get human service and better feel of a room and space . For Cali and being in Orange County they can massively step up their game !

The convenience of the property location was excellent. The room was nice, but loud from street noise. The shower was very slippery and the faucet connection didn't work which made it difficult to rinse down. Ant problem! The bed was comfortable.

Like others have said, this is a subpar property in an expensive area, so if you are staying here, it's because it is cheap and you are getting what you paid for. I have stayed here twice now because I visit family and really am only at the hotel to sleep. But after this trip, I think I will be willing to pay more for a better experience. We had paid extra to reserve a king room, but got a double bed (which they advertise is a queen but I measured it and it was 54 inches wide). The mattress was comfortable and linens clean - our towels seemed brand new. The furniture in the room was nice. The fridge and coffee machine (which takes Keurig pods) in the room were great. They now have a coffee station in the lobby which is also nice. The area is great - walking distance to the beach and some cute shops and restaurants. For the bad - the room had a very musty smell and feel. There were small ant-like bugs on the bathroom counter and bedside tables. It seemed like a shoddy remodel job was done on the property, with uneven baseboards and paint splotches. Each room has an individual AC unit which was loud - we were there in November and had the AC on the whole time because of the musty/damp feel in the room. Parking is easy, and it's an extra $20/day that you pay on the app, but it doesn't seem like they monitor to make sure people pay. I wish there was EV charging available because this area does not have many accessible chargers.
