Nice stay
We loved the location and the neighborhood was quiet. The view from the deck was lovely. We used the outdoor grill and loved the fully stocked kitchen. Huntington lake was less than a mile away and we enjoyed waking to the lake in the evenings. The house was beautiful and spacious. Plenty of room for 3 families with young children. We loved the historical decor and overall charm of the house. I feel the house could have been cleaner, we found some crumbs on the bed covers and candy/crumbs underneath the bed in one room and in the cupboards, but otherwise pretty clean throughout. Our main issue was the bottom fridge did not work properly and the food we had stored spoiled after a day. Also, there are no smart tvs throughout the house. But again, we were not there to watch a lot of tv so it was a minor inconvenience. Overalll, a nice stay and we would recommend.

Nice stay with a few negatives
Overall we had a great stay. We had 9 in total. 4 adults 2 teens and 3 younger kids. The cabin was spacious and well stocked. There were plenty of beds and lots of room to spread out. The game room was a big hit. There were plenty of towels for everyone. The location is great for China Peak. Cons: -When we arrived, the top of the stairs down to the entrance were covered in several inches, and in places, a few feet of ice. We managed it, but it was very treacherous and older people would definitely not have been able to pass at all. The hand rail was frozen over so there was very little to grab onto. We had a few falls on this over the days we were there. -One of the balconies had trash strewn all over it including used diapers. It was disgusting. There were also a bunch of gnats on the inside of the slider of that balcony. -There were a ton of coffee filters in the cabinet but they were the basket type and the coffee makers take cone. Might want to note this somewhere in the listing. -I contacted the management company a few times about the ice and the trash. They said the local people would contact me. They never did. I just think that if they were not able to clear the stairs they should let people know that ahead of time. But overall, we still had a good time. I understand there has been record snowfall this year, but I think these items still should have been handled differently. A local person should have at least reached out.

The property is beautiful and nice and very clean. Awesome view and very cozy. Horrible communication with the management. They wouldn't contact us with the internet issue and my wife missed out on some work due to it

Felt like a guest in a friend’s home!
Wow, this was much nicer than a typical rental. It was super comfortable and had a “home” like feel to it. I have a large family with 6 kids ages 14 through 28. It was equipped with everything we needed. The kitchen was great and had plenty of cookware and utensils. We did a lot of cooking so a well stocked kitchen is important. Nice having two refrigerators. The game room kept the younger ones busy when we weren’t out kayaking , fishing or hiking. And what a view from either balcony. Thanks for providing such a nice and reasonable retreat for my family.

Great Place for families
Enjoyed the great kitchen and decks with views of China Peak and Huntington Lake. The internet was out, but it seemed to be an overall outage of the area. Had to call the Property manager, they were helpful and responded to our issues.

Weekend Getaway
A few colleagues and myself wanted to do a small snowboarding getaway. The cabin was warm and spacious for the entire group. It’s just 10 mins from China Peak and was great for entertaining all 14 of us. The only down side was that the pool sticks were either broken or missing the felt tip and the garage was non-operational. Overall everyone was very happy. Thanks for opening up your home to us.

No hot water was a monumental inconvenience
This property physically accommodated our family reunion to honor the recent passing of our Dad well, except for day 3. Our Dad's favorite place on earth was Huntington Lake, so we wanted to remember him there. After check in on Monday, July 30, we noticed the hot water getting more and more tepid but attributed it to people showering upstairs and downstairs at the same time. When we returned back from all day at the lake the water in whole house was ice cold. After 2 calls to VACASA property "management" (and inordinately long wait times before they even answered), I finally received confirmation from a maintenance person that the owners frequently turn the hot water off before they leave to save money and housekeeping sometimes does not turn it back on in anticipation of new guests. So, we had tired people that just wanted to shower, in addition to a planned 27 year anniversary meal for two of the family members. HUGE INCONVENIENCE. Let this be a heads up to future clients. There was no resolution until the following day. You would assume that, given what we were paying per night, hot water would be a minimum requirement for the comfort of the guests. Being VRBO owners ourselves, we noted that linens were of bare minimum quality (flat bottom sheets that slid off the beds), and that pillows and mattresses did not have waterproof, dust mite or bed bug protection. These are essential items that hotels now use for basic public health concerns. We are going to request compensation for the 36 hours with no hot water, and may update with a more positive evaluation pending results.

Had a wonderful time! High marks from our entire family!
Home is beautiful with plenty of room for our large group and was close to lake! Nicely updated kitchen and bathrooms with any and all kitchen equipment you might need! It would have been good to have a information sheet at the house, along with a local contact number for any immediate issues, although HomeAway did respond fairly quick to emails. Highly recommend the location!
