Baitul Noor House is a beautiful traditional home just moments away from the Lamu coast where the ferries and small boats dock. The home itself is a gorgeous three story home with an open courtyard characteristic of traditional Arab homes. There are a few rooms available to rent and each one is minimally but charmingly decorated. There is a cozy open air seating area on the top floor which is also the roof in addition to two dining areas on the ground floor. The kitchen is available to use but I highly recommend you ask Najma, the woman who runs the Homs, to cook for you. She is a fantastic cook and charges less than any restaurant in the neighborhood. She will also do your laundry for a small fee. Najma is really what made our stay extra special. She went out of her way to protect us from tourist-hungry hustlers and she spent hours finding us the perfect boat day trip when others were booked. She and her soon have a lovely tranquil energy that carries through the home. Of all the places we stayed during our 3 weeks in Kenya, Baitul Noor was by far the best. I highly recommend it.
