We arrived before check in and left our bags with very specific instructions that 1 backpack had 2 open wine bottles, it was fragile and needed to stay upright. Miguel the bellman said, "All i need to know is its fragile!" 2 hours later we returned to check in and upon entering our room we see the bag is laid down and wine is not only soaking everything in the bag (jewelery, makeup, toiletries, it spilled and over the desk and floor. Took us multiple trips to the front desk to get properly cleaned in the room. No similar room available to move us too. Spent hours cleaning up the mess. Hotel manager on our 2nd day said, "my staff tells me he left the bag upright, so all I will offer you is 1 bottle of wine up to 25 euro from our bar". So be warned they take zero responsibility if anything happens during your stay. ALSO note not a 5 star hotel- very dated and bed was extremely soft and uncomfortable, only 1 pillow, bathroom counter veneer was bubbling up , many staff seemed very unhappy to the point of rude. The bartender was friendly and nice, and Stephan the bellman seemed nice. We had garden view, and the view was lovely, watched pigeons bathing in the swimming pool constantly.
Worst hotel we stayed at in Portugal.
