The Couple who ran Broccoli Bottom were very friendly and helpful the place is lovely and the area is beautiful The accommodation is not luxurious. Uncomfortable 2 seater sofa and very small tv was not good if you wanted to stay in in the evening. No free toiletries as stated were provided as we were self catering but for the price you would expect more than 1 small bar of soap. The Horse and Jockey within walking distance did good meals overall a nice stay in a lovely area.
We stayed in Mangetout Maison , which was ideal for a family of 4. It was perfectly located close to the sailing club in the next village. We arrived on a cold dark night and the apartment was warm and welcoming. Comfortable beds. Good kitchen /eating area. We hope to visit again.
My friend and I had a lovely stay at Broccoli Bottom, ideal situation for touring the surrounding countryside , in a lovely quiet setting .We were made very welcome by our hosts. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfasts great.Would recommend without hesitation.
We had B&B but Self Catering also available, would love to go back
Had to check in early as we were attending a wedding. Happily let us drop out bags and change quickly. House is very well presented. Had a late breakfast next morning. Great food and service. Would highly recommend.
The place does rather over sell itself. The bed was solid and creaked badly but it was the timing of breakfast that really irritated. On day one it was only available at 9.00, which happily was OK. On day 2 it was only available at 9.30. I explained that I had a plane to catch and had to leave by 9.30 at the latest but was told that there was no way they could help because "it takes half an hour to cook". Maybe it was just because the owner was away for the week-end but it isn't my definition of hospitality.

Disliked: Room comfort
Average B&B
Lovely house, bathroom out on the landing. breakfast fine. Was adequate for 1 night. I am sure the self catering part is extremely good.
We recieved a lovely welcome from Colin who was gardening, he then gave us a tour of the b&b's fascilities. Beautifully decorated&quite grand without being OTT and showy(P.S I loved Sally's taste, her character is dotted about in the furnishing's)Our room was lovely and spacious with added extra's(robes/tv/kettle/biscuit's, tea and coffee/wifi)I esp appreciated the ornate mirror and vanity table w/chair. Came in useful while I was getting ready for my friend's wedding being held at nearby Normanton church. The room boasted the lush view down the drive and across a field of sheep grazing. Very idyllic and peaceful. Our bathroom wasn't joined to our room but just a door away and again didn't disappoint. Colin took our breakfast order and were told we could pick a time for it to be served which suited us...perfect! Knowing we would be at the wedding reception until quite late there was no pressure put on us to be back early and were given a key to let ourselves in. What more could you want? We also had to call and delay the time of our breakfast being served which Colin and Sally kindly accomodated. There was so much choice for breakfast. I went with boiled egg and soldier's and got an added extra. Loved it! Sally was attentive throughout. All warm food was fresh and delicious. Most importantly we weren't made to feel rushed to finish up. Sally even cracked out her tablet to show pic's of weddings they had on their land. Bottom line Brocolli bottom is a home from home. We very much enjoyed our visit to Broccoli Bottom. I can't imagine a more delightful locale in a lush country with rolling hills, birds in the morning and grazing sheep. The owners were so friendly, interested and hospitable. I can't say enough about our experience. I would give a strong recommendation for Broccoli Bottom!
There is nothing to fault about this B&B, everything is worthy of praise. Clean throughout, comfortable, good breakfasts, friendly and welcoming staff. High standard of tasteful furnishing and decor.
Note: self catering accommodation also available here.
Nice stay. Workers next door who made a bit of noise from 6am before they left for work. Rooms very cold so appreciated the extra heaters we were given.
A lovely house, an old farm, in a village close to Rutland water. Comfortable room and large bathroom. Breakfast was lovely and sociable with other guests and the hosts. Highly recommended
We rang to see if we could get there earlier than planned and the owners put themselves out to get back and let us in. They are an extremely hospitable couple. Although the twin room was not ensuite, we were given towelling robes and the large nearby bathroom was for our own use, both the bedroom and bathroom were well equipped. The setting is tranquil and rural, a great night's sleep on comfortable beds. House is down a long private drive, parking outside the house is very easy. I will try to get round to sending them a jar of dijon mustard.....!
Lovely accommodation in idyllic setting, beautifully maintained and relaxed informal atmosphere. Sally and Colin were very welcoming and helpful hosts, even rang the local pub to book a table for us for dinner. Fabulous breakfast!
We spent just the one night at Broccoli Bottom but loved it. We were made so welcome and looked after beautifully. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed. More importantly, they were very accommodating of our large vintage Rolls-Royce which they allowed us to park in the stable yard so I could set about cleaning it in the morning without disturbing other guests. In a lovely location and not far from Stamford. It was £25 each way in a taxi to Stamford in the evening.
