Great location that area of town is under alot of contruction so its a bit tricky to get around (not the hotel fault) other than that it was a pleasant stay

If I could give this hotel a zero I would. From the moment we got there it was an absolutely horrible. After trying to check in early (I emailed and called ahead of time with no response) they said that they were going through a management change and their credit card terminals were down, so I asked about the free parking after getting an email that said parking was $25 (Expedia said free) and she confirmed after a little while that yes we did have free parking, but it was located almost a kilometre walk away with staircases escalators and a mall you had to walk-through. With accessibility issues I would’ve never chosen a hotel that states that it is accessible friendly when in fact, it is not. Even the loading zone for where your bags go. You still need to go up and down multiple flights of stairs. Once the 3pm check-in finally came around they said the terminals was still down, but they would take my credit card information by writing it down on a piece of paper at the front desk and no upgrade available for VIP. On our second day of being here the toilet was not flushing properly so we let it settle and then we asked the person to come up to see it now this was pretty late in the night. They came up after describing it needed a plunger without a plunger, and proceeded to flush the handle multiple times and overflow the toilet onto the bathroom. We were moved at 1am to a room with two double beds, manger Rob was nice but all other staff were extremely rude/unhelpful

Great location!
Great reception staff. The receptionist kindly allocated me great room with a view looking uphill to the Citadel. So helpful and efficient. Hotel is perfectly located for downtown Halifax.

Staff are not familiar with the local area and are not equipped to offer restaurant suggestions or discuss local attractions. The parking situation is very inconvenient for guests at the moment due to ongoing construction. The front desk is understaffed, wait times are long and calling the front desk you're put on hold for long periods of time. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel.

the carpet in our room was very grungy and stained, and the wooden furniture had what seemed to be heat spots. bathroom and bed were clean. rooms are outdated. i would say overpriced for what you are given.

We booked our flight and hotel through Expedia. The flight through Porter was excellent. The hotel Barrington wasn't what we expected. The street in front of the hotel was under construction, so the taxi had to let us off at the top of the street with our luggage. That's no a major problem if you age is not in your mid 70's! We had to do the same thing 5 days later. The hotel was also in the process of changing ownership which left us locked out of the hotel on Oct 2, that was an inconvenience for us. The staff was below average and certainly not helpful. Our room was old and a lot of the outlets were very loose so we didn't use them. They was no daily cleaning of the room. If you needed anything like towels, emptying garbage bins and coffee supplies you had to request it from the reception.
