Our stay was good overall and staff were friendly. We originally booked a ground floor room but we found out that people use the rooms downstairs for dogs to stay. We aren’t dog owners and we have stayed in places where we can smell dogs. We upgraded to an executive suite which was spacious. My wife has limited mobility and the lift wasn’t working, we had some help with moving our things into our room, which was helpful but lots of stairs because the lift wasn’t working. Overall it was a good place to stay.

The room was clean and quiet. The linen and towels fresh. It goes down from there. The fabric of the hotel is tired and the design dates from the 1980s. The carpark is depressing and even a homeless person decided to camp next door in the smokery carpark.

Everything was great at my first stay at the Bentley. I did self check in on my journey down and when I arrived the reception lady (Sophie) was nice, friendly and efficient, I paid with my credit card, received my keys and was soon up in my room. The room was large but a wee bit dated and tired looking but the bed was great. The heating radiators looked outdated but they worked efficiently and the room was always warm and cosy. The bathroom was clean and I've never stayed in a hotel room that had so much water pressure and hotness!! Wow it was scalding until you got used to it. My room shower control wasn't very good and hard to control but once used to it, it was great. Nice hand / body wash too. I ate once in the dining room and once in the bar area, both were great with plenty choice and everything tasted lovely. The breakfast was fresh and plentiful, brilliant selection. Unfortunately the spa was closed under renovation but the gym was newly refurbished and was brilliant! I never tried the Weatherspoons across the road but I did try Hickory's next door, I thought it was fantastic. I will certainly be back to stay.

There is no pool which is super unfortunate as that's originally at the last booking why we chose this place as not many around that have a pool now which really made them stand out for us. However that being said we did enjoy our stay the first time and have definitely enjoyed our stay again this time, even with some unfortunate events this time. Our kettle appeared to have quite a bit of timescale and what looked like mould however I cannot fault the service as the ladies on reception dealt with the issue quickly and politely. Our electric also went off in the room but this was again sorted promptly and professionally. The service and communication is fantastic and the hotel itself feels like it has a really posh feel about the place. It was beautifully decorated ready for Christmas which was a nice touch. I have to say the room we were in this time was smaller than last time and the bathroom looked a little worn and tired but that being said it didn't affect our stay and we would definitely return again just wear and tear of a busy hotel. The breakfast was absolutely phenomenal and fantastic value for money and again the service throughout breakfast was fantastic the attention to detail from the lady behind us and something looking a little under cooked and taking it straight back was fantastic because the lady didn't complain she was just so acutely aware it didn't look quite right. The choices of food was great and we will definitely order again!! Loved it!!
