Holidays in Lindisfarne

Bring your adventurous streak along with your well-worn backpack. It's time to explore what Lindisfarne has to offer! A neighbourhood in Hobart, it's a brilliant place to experience another side of the capital of Tasmania. If you love meeting the locals while travelling, Hobart is full of potential new BFFs. Around 220,000 people call this city home. Lindisfarne is 5 kilometres northeast of the centre of the city. If you're arriving from Hobart International Airport, grab a taxi and make your way 11 kilometres to the west.

This city is brimming with glorious things to do, and you'll find many of them near Lindisfarne. It's not easy to pick the best attractions, but the Cascade Brewery and theatre Royal are a couple you can't miss. Don't forget to put the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens and St. David's Cathedral on your checklist as well. A good way to take in this city is to wander a few of its neighbourhoods. So why not head to nearby Warrane and Rose Bay and explore their unique charms?

Whether it's your first time here or you've come back to explore some of your favourite spots, it's hard to get bored. Especially when the city centre is alive with terrific attractions like Mount Nelson Lookout.

Holidaying without the little tackers? The Lark Distillery, the Craigow Vineyard and the Sullivans Cove deserve to be at the very top of your to-do list.

Look closely into the glass cabinets and learn all about the objects on display as you walk through the engaging collections of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, the Mawson's Huts Replica Museum and the Australian Army Museum Tasmania.

Often kids can have fun in rather surprising places. Head off on an adventure with them to Hobart Aquatic Centre, the State Library of Tasmania and the Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts.

Children can get fed up with being dragged around various tourist sites. Fire them up with a trip to one of the area's action-packed family attractions. The Royal Hobart Showground and Zone 3 Laser Games are worth checking out.

On a bright and sunny day, take a big breath of fresh air and enjoy the splendour of nature at the Subantarctic Plant House and the Rosedown Gardens.

Prepare a picnic and invite some friends down for an afternoon in one of the vibrant urban parks nearby. Your options include Caldew Park, Queens Domain and Train Park.

Stock up on the basics or look for a few unique souvenirs. You'll find everything you're after at Eastlands Shopping Centre and Salamanca Market.

Franklin Square, Government House, the Maritime Museum of Tasmania and Parliament House can give you a glimpse into the past.

Whether you want to learn a bit more about the region's spiritual side or just take in the peaceful atmosphere, get going to the Hobart Synagogue, St. George's Anglican Church, St. Joseph's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Cathedral.

Get ready to don your red and blue and cheer as wildly as you can. Home to the North Hobart Demons, North Hobart Oval is the ideal place to get your fix of Australian rules football (AFL) entertainment.
