The space
Bonnie Blink House is a lovely eco friendly home that families and groups of friends will be able to enjoy.
Made of straw bales that create great insulation and a sustainable, healthy material to live in. The house is on delicious tank water so you can drink and bath in crystal clear rain water. Worms take care of the waste, the sun helps with electricity and Starlink thankfully gives us fast wifi!
The huge master suite has a Super King sized bed, french doors to the deck, views of the mountains and bush. The ensuite includes a shower, bathtub and infrared sauna.
There are two other spacious bedrooms; one with a king bed, the other with a queen. All have lovely views out the green of the garden.
There's plenty of space in the rest of the open plan house for a few couples to not feel on top of each other or children to be able to have their own space. Off to the side of the lounge room is a seperate cosy room with a smart tv ready for a movie night. Yes, that's a dance pole in the lounge room. Feel free to have a swing!
The fireplace is ready to go, you'll find kindling, wood and fire starters if you need them. There’s also portable gas heaters in the bedrooms.
Lots of boardgames and books are at the ready for rainy days.
Invite a couple of friends over for dinner as there's seating and crockery for at least eight and everything you need in the kitchen to cook up a storm.
Tea, coffee, sugar, olive oil, salt, pepper, a bunch of spices and some other pantry things are supplied. You're welcome to use anything in the pantry.
There's a great pizza place down the road, that’s open on weekends if you don't feel like cooking and plenty of restaurants and bars in Blackheath and Katoomba, a short drive away.
Maybe for dessert, you can wander down the back garden to the fire pit. Perfect place to toast some marshmallows and make some s'mores!
The enormous deck is a perfect place to enjoy the serenity and views of the Australian bush. There's always birds flying round in the morning and kangaroos grazing at dusk. The sunsets are amazing! Don't miss them.
Pour a glass of wine, lounge on the daybed and feel the city stress leave your body.
There's a dining table, bbq, and lots of lounges to enjoy the deck.
The veggie garden is left to its own devices but you can often find some goodies in there. At the right time of year there's figs, plums and apple trees you're welcome to pick from. Oh and delicious blackberries!
In the mornings grab out one of the yoga mats and have a sunrise session to start your day. Feel free to use the foam rollers and the portable massage table. They come in handy after you take advantage of the amazing climbing, bushwalking and mountain biking in the area. There's also a fingerboard on the doorframe for any rock climbers that come to stay and a guidebook on the bookshelf.
There's phone chargers and smart speakers and tv at your disposal.
Guest access
There's plenty of uncovered parking in the property. It's a quiet sealed road to the house. Drive slowly at dusk and nighttime because they are many kangaroos and they like to jump in-front of your car.
The whole property is yours alone to enjoy, there's a couple of cupboards in the house that are locked. The shed is not accessible.
There's a gate and fence to the back paddock, feel free to wander around. The kangaroos will keep out of your way but please remember they are wild animals so give them their space. The dam is a lovely area with ducks, feel free to throw them some scraps or take the picnic rug down there. The dam is in the same paddock as the house so keep an eye on children and pets.
Other things to note
Well trained pets are welcome though please, not in the bedrooms or on the furniture. There's a fully fenced yard within the property (where the chickens used to be) that you are able to use if you need to leave your pet unattended. The whole property itself is fenced but there's holes in the fence down the back where the kangaroos have created their access.
