Holidays in Little India

There’s no time to be bored in a world as spectacular as this. So get out there and go somewhere you've never been before like Little India, Singapore! With some 3,500,000 people calling the city home, be prepared to rub shoulders with some friendly locals. Once you've touched down at Changi Airport and dragged your bags from the carousel, Little India is a drive of 16 kilometres to the west. From the city centre, it's 2 kilometres north.

This city is teeming with awesome things to do, and many of them are found near Little India. It's a challenge to choose the leading sights here, but Universal Studios Singapore® and Haji Lane are a couple you shouldn't miss out on. You should also be sure to pay a visit to the National Orchid Garden and the Chinatown Heritage Center. For another perspective on Singapore, organise an outing to Farrer Park and Jalan Besar, nearby neighbourhoods just waiting to be discovered.

Need some advice on things to do in the city centre? Begin by feasting your eyes on the Singapore Flyer and the Peranakan Museum. The National Museum of Singapore and the Boat Quay are also among the area's greatest draw cards.

Exhausted after rushing around all day? Take time to let your hair down at the Marina Bay Sands Casino, the Singapore Island Country Club, Adam Food Centre and Amoy Street Food Centre!

Want to get a feel for the cultural scene? Head to the Singapore Tyler Print Institute, the Arts House, the Ngee Ann Cultural Centre and the National Gallery Singapore.

Relax while you experience the intriguing art collections at the Singapore Art Museum, the Nei Xue Tang, the Gillman Barracks and the Tan Swie Hian Museum. Afterwards, why not go to a local café and contemplate your time there?

There's no saying what you'll find when walking around the fascinating collections at the ArtScience Museum, the Battle Box Museum, the Air Force Museum and the Civil Defence Heritage Gallery. If you don't want to miss a thing, see if you can hop aboard a guided tour.

There's nothing like that feeling of anticipation when a performance is due to get under way. Take your seat and wait for the curtains to rise at the Esplanade Theatres, the Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall, the Necessary Stage and theatreworks.

Fancy a round of golf? Don some khaki trousers, shine your clubs and get ready to do your best Nick Faldo impression at the Marina Bay Golf Course, the Urban Fairways and the Keppel Club.

Children are often fantastic travel mates, particularly if you go to fun places! For some quality family time, head to Marine Life Park, CHIJMES, the National Library Board Singapore and S.E.A. Aquarium.

MacRitchie Reservoir Park, Marina Barrage, the Flower Dome and MacRitchie Nature Trail are ideal places for nature fans to spend time outdoors.

Grab your camera and explore the close-by nature reserves, such as the Singapore Botanic Gardens, the Gardens by the Bay and the Cloud Forest.

An appealing feature of this place is its nearby public parks. In the midst of all the action, you won't struggle to find somewhere to relax and recharge. Raffles Place, Esplanade Park, Fort Canning Park and Jacob Ballas Children's Garden are great options.

The shopping experience is what you make it. Whether you're after something in particular or just after some retail therapy, you'll have a great time at Raffles City, Esplanade Mall, Park Mall and VivoCity.

You never know what you'll find at the Asian Civilisations Museum, Battle Box, UOB Plaza and Singapore City Hall. These historic sites have their fair share of tales to tell.

Local religious sites, such as the Thian Hock Keng Temple, the Burmese Buddhist Temple, the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple and the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple, give you the chance to ponder life's big questions in a calming setting.
