Skiing in Livigno
This hotel is fine. Next to the slopes . A few steps to get up to the lift . Livigno is good, plenty of scope for skiing . We did half board , but wouldn’t next time . The resort is much cheaper than France. So eating out was cheap . The food in the hotel was fine … but not really to our taste . We parked underground at the hotel . Room was basic , …but fine . We had a good break
Great location, friendly staff, very clean hotel. Only complaint is that the room was a little noisy, the cafe played music from 7am until 9pm and you could hear every time another guest opened or closed their door. Would still stay again.
We booked a superior room as a treat for our christmas week snowboarding trip, as we wanted a balcony view of the mountain and thought the jetted tub would be great for aching muscles. We arrived over ten hours after leaving our home, with the most stressful part being the bus up from town (note, the free buses are great but so full and busy around 4-5 pm!) and the receptionist saw we were tired and got us checked in quickly without dragging out the tour which we appreciated. The room was simple yet pleasant. We were in #16 and the view wasn't quite as good as the photos on here, as the carpark for Doss 18 lift is right in your view, a shame. The jetted tub was also difficult to use and only gave you bubbles when it wanted to! The Astra is in a good location out of the main busy strip but with some great restaurants around it, a nice restaurant of its own La Pioda, and both blue and red bus lines directly outside. The Doss 18 behind it is a good blue run and ski school which is useful. As it was Xmas week I enquired a while before via email about any special Christmas menus in the restaurant as I thought we would need to pre-book and was told I would be contacted when released, this never happened and of course it was fully booked when we arrived. Although instead we managed to get a last-minute table at Angels and Demons for a stunning Xmas Eve meal so all worked out. All in all it's comparatively a good value option in Livigno but I am not sure we'd necessarily stay again.
Absolutely amazing stay! The room was perfect, lots of character. We had a balcony with mountain views. Check in was quick and the employee was personable. The hotel was quiet, bed was comfortable. The breakfast-hands down the best hotel breakfast I have ever eaten, and I have stayed at my fair share of hotels. Absolutely excellent. I literally have only wonderful things to say about this hotel. We would absolutely recommend this hotel, and we would seek this hotel out if we are ever in the area again. Top notch.
First night we were very late and entered the restaurant 25 minutes before closing. The staff rolled their eyes and were clearly upset, but the chef said we were to be served anyway. Next night and throughout our stay the restaurant staff and hotel staff provided excellent service. We just probably caught them on an off day. They have a slope for sledding and skiing in the back with a small slide for small children. The room was very cozy. Plenty of heat and hot water! Location is great with maybe a 5minute walk to the bus station to get to Livigno Centro.
We booked at the last minute and we were able to check in even though the hotel hadn't received formal booking. We were very pleased that they got us in easily at a cold night. The breakfast next morning was tasty and everything was very fresh! Highly recommend if you are in that area!
Location of hotel is perfect. Right next to the nursery slopes of Doss 18 with more advanced slopes just a ski away. Hotel staff were so friendly and amazing. Breakfast was awesome and snack menu just right. Thank you
Nice side of town, quiet with good restaurants. Good ski school literally just behind with handy shed to store boots and skis. Could do with a bit of an upgrade to the sauna area but great they have one.
Great hotel, welcoming and friendly staff. The restaurant is highly recommended.

Disliked: Room comfort
Should have been nice!
Opted for a Jacuzzi room and should'nt have bothered as it didnt work for the whole week we were there despite telling management numerous times.no real wardrobe or drawer space and the safe that you cannot fit a laptop into is just screwed to a wooden clothes hanger.tv only had 1 english channel (that you could hear) but couldnt make the picture out of.No extra bedding/pillows suppled,no do not disturb sign for 3 days. If you are up at the crack of dawn to hit the slopes then you will be o.k if you like a night out and a few beers be prepared to be woken up from 7.15 am which is when the maid starts work vacuuming and crashing about on non carpeted floors in surrounding rooms and storing all the rubbish and cleaning materials in the hallway right outside your door. This combined with a screaming baby next door through most nights did'nt do a lot to make you feel refreshed when you got up for a days skiing. The outside ski locker portacabin was a good idea apart from lazy people generally opened the door then left it open all day for anyone to walk into and make off with your skis/boots etc and the steps up from the rear garden area to the slope were encrusted with ice for the entire week we were there and no effort was made to clear it off to avoid slipping. The room keys are on 70's style 4'' heavy brass keyrings that you either have to take out with you or hang on a hook just inside the front door which is also access to the adjoining restaurant, allowing anyone access.
We wanted an Alps experience and got exactly that. Lovely hotel in a snowy valley. The staff were friendly and the room great value. The hotel restaurant was simply wonderful with amazing food. Close to the Stelvio Pass which was on the agenda.
Hotel Astra is a small but quaint hotel nestled at the very heart of the Italian Alps, in the breathtakingly beautiful town of Livigno. We had to travel an extremely long way to get there but it was very much worth the effort. Upon our arrival, my fiancee and I were given a warm welcome by the owner and were provided with a complimentary night cap before been shown to our room. The room contained everything we required for a comfortable and relaxing stay including a whirlpool bathtub, a tempur mattress and a balcony with a magnificent view. The next morning after breakfast (which was lovely), the concierge Marco gave us some invaluable advice about where to go for skiing lessons, helped us to obtain our ski passes and informed us where to go to hire out the necessary equipment. We spent the first day organising all of this and doing a bit of sight seeing. Livigno is a great town for shopping as it is a tax free area which means you can buy goods at a substantially lower price than normal. On the second day we went for our skiing lesson first thing in the morning on a slope located directly at the back of our hotel which was ideal. Our instructor was fantastic and once we had learned the basics we decided to continue on our own because we felt that the best way to learn is from your own mistakes! Each day we followed the pattern of skiing in the mornings, sight seeing and shopping in the afternoons and at night enjoying the various restaurants and buzzing bars. AMAZING!
