Lovely olde worlde hotel. Dog friendly. Food very good value. Room a bit dated and TV didn't work; given it was the Olympics, a bit gutted. Seem to be run off their feet as no-one available for check-in and had to go in search of someone.

The room was perfect for a family of 4 whose kids are grown as they each had a separate room within the room. However when we pulled back the sheets to our bed for the night, there was a large stain on the comforter as well as one of the other beds. It was nice having 2 bathrooms as well, but the toilet paper was just on a holder allowing it to dangle on the floor

First time to check in with no one at reception. It was the Barman that checked us in and he didn’t have much to say . Staff didn’t speak much, which is not something I’ve come across before. I suppose they aren’t happy working there?

Disappointing
We had booked 2 executive suites with a double and 2 single beds in each even given room numbers 25 & 27. However this is not what we got, one room had a double bed and the other a double and one single, neither of which could be described as executive.

Great overnight stay at very good price. Meal in bar in evening was lovely. Good portions and home made. Breakfast cooked fresh to order very good too. Room very comfortable. Lovely walks by river. Staff very friendly and helpful.

massive disappointment
The room was clean and there was everything I needed, but the stair carpet was really filthy and grubby, the out side was untidy with weeds growing around the base of the building ,painting was needed everywhere to improve the look, we booked an evening meal ,but had to make do with the meal in the rather dingy bar that smelt of dogs, as the restaurant was not open that night

Overall experience was good. Got locked out of our room. Then asked for help which was immediate. The front desk was not staffed all the time. Ought to have had a notice in these instance of where to go for help. The land line was out of action the proceeding week of our staff when telephoning for booking confirmation but now fixed. Excellent fully cooked breakfasts to die for.

Good location … but lacks value for money
Eagles Hotel is located in a pleasant location with nice views (subject to room allocation). Breakfast is good, but is buffet style and with so few rooms, it would VERY good if it was made to order (avoid waste and serve hot). However, Eagles is very tired and in need of updating. Windows provide no noise insulation from the busy road and hotel activity outside that begins around 7am each day, or the beer garden in the evening. Despite claims of daily housekeeping, we stayed 4 nights and NO housekeeping is provided during your stay.

Had to wait a while to check in. Not a warm and welcoming reception bearing in mind had driven 3 hrs to get there. Place was quite worn. Some sort of Prom event was on which meant disturbed sleep, noisy at 1am. Breakfast however was excellent. The bin area of the carpark was very untidy.

Excellent stay, good facilities but closed a little early of an evening. Could also do with more hangers in wardrobe as 3 for 2 people for 2 nights is not enough.
