Important Things To Note:
This is a rural cabin. While we are stocked with wifi and other modern conveniences, there are still things to note about the requirements of this space.
HEATING: We have wood fire heat, a pellet stove, and electric baseboards. We kindly ask that you work with us to use the most efficient source to make your stay comfortable. We ask/ recommend that you also use the pellet stove (in addition to the electric baseboard heaters). This is by far the greenest option. The stove requires that you are able to lift a bag of pellets (about 30 pounds) and dump it into the stove. You will need to add a new bag of pellets daily, and it’s generally smart to check it before heading to bed as this heating option can run all night and is a good supplement for the bedroom heaters. We have full details about how to do this in the house manual (and we are available for any questions), but if this sounds too intimidating for you, then this cabin may not be the best fit for you!
LOFT SPACE: The loft area has railings that are NOT SAFE for small/ rough-housing children. The space between the railing and the floor is dangerous for anyone who could fall. Use at your own risk!
WINTER CONDITIONS: We have a plow/ shovel service, but the winter in Maine brings a lot of snow and ice regularly. We provide additional sand and salt on the porch as needed. Use caution as you go up and down the stairs. Avoid the back porch stairs during the winter. Be mindful of falling snow around the sides of the house; dogs and adventurous children should have an adult nearby.
