The renovated property is lovely and we enjoyed our overnight stay immensely. Our room was very comfortable and welcoming. We had booked spa treatments which were located in a separate location about a 3 minute walk from the hotel.My massage and subsequent facial were wonderfully relaxing as done by the masseuse Lisa, and esthetician,Luz. However the changing room was quite small without privacy. The pool was heated but the hot tub was merely warm-basically the same temp as the pool. Our dinner at the hotel was incredibly good as we tried out the new menu suggested by the chef and he didn't disappoint his Italian cuisine flair...everything was delicious. Our waiter was also very attentive and considerate. My only concern was having to leave the hotel and walk to the spa/pool area. In cold weather after receiving treatments and/or relaxing in the pool or hot tub, it's not ideal to have to don cold weather outer wear to head back to the hotel...although one can drive and park there too. Thus my stay is rated as Very Good. I recommend you try visiting the Chateau Merrimack We will definitely return!

The place is absolutely beautiful, the pictures on website don’t do justice to this place, it looks like a castle well kept in a breathtaking surrounding. The place is super clean and the staff is friendly. The only weak point is the breakfast, either improve it or remove it, a couple of bagels and muffins is not breakfast. Despite that, I will definitely come back!

“Resort & Spa” is a misnomer for this hotel. The property is nice and the rooms are decent but look dated. Lighting and WiFi were not great in room. Front desk lacked any idea of customer service and seemed apathetic at best. When I inquired about where we could walk in the area I got a limited response (in fact there is a state park with hiking trails nearby and a path along the river). When I asked for a bit of milk to go with my coffee at 5:45AM prior to the breakfast opening, I got a blank stare and “I don’t think I can do that”. Really? The breakfast is a few carbs options that look pre packed (no yogurt, eggs, oatmeal or non carb options). The gym was pitiful. A closet with an old treadmill, bench and a few weights and no windows in the room. This “resort” can only rely on its old heritage as a high end hotel for so long. Need to get their act together. We previously stayed at the Element at Drum Hill which was less expensive, newer, had a much better breakfast and decent gym. We will not go back to the Chateaux.

It is like going back in time, the property is fantastic I used the pool each day which is clean and beautiful it is back in the woods of the property by a tennis court and seating all around for the summer time. My only concern was it is a walk away from the hotel and as an elderly person they could have a golf cart handy for people of my generation, but it is a very pretty walk.

I booked well in advance, travelled with my family for over 5 hours only to be told that my room was not available because they could not open the room door. Management nowhere to be found. I was left stranded in the middle of nowhere with 2 children on a holiday weekend. Ruined my vacation, cost me an arm and a leg to find a place to stay in the middle of the night. Managment purposely not responding or reaching out.

Very Disappointing
I had high hopes for this place. It was billed as "true luxury on the Merrimack" and "completely renovated inside and out." If that's true, I'd hate to see the before photos. It looked like a haunted house and an art deco hotel from the 50s had a baby, and not a cute one. The bed was uncomfortable. There was no overhead lighting and the room was very dark. Our TV set kept turning itself on during the night and waking us up. Not their fault, but whoever was staying in the room above walked the floors all night and everything rattled and shook. When I mentioned all of this to the staff, I got crickets. No attempt to apologize or make it better. The restaurant food was quite average, however the wait staff was very attentive (the one bright spot). Be careful, fellow travelers.
