Aside from easy access to Lumini, the folks at Hotel Ananda Inn were wonderful; inviting, supportive, and really, really helpful. Normally, I don't spend too much time in hotel restaurants but Maitri Restaurant attached to the hotel is really good. I'm sorry that there were some customers who wrote their disappointment, but bear in mind, they do make their dishes from scratch and the ingredients are fresh. Plus, you're in South Asia! The pace is going to be leisurely (which to many westerners might just be sloooow); leave the expectation of speedy service behind and enjoy just sitting in a nice quiet place. There's also a lovely garden you take your tea in, if you so desire.
Also, they arranged a highly reasonable car to Kapilavastu. Top-notch.
Altogether, my stay was very, very fine. If the kind people at Ananda are reading this, "hello! and thank you for a wonderful time!"
