It lies 400 kilometres to the southwest of the country's capital, Stockholm.

Sitting 25 kilometres to the southwest, Skrea Beach is a wonderful place to spend a few hours scanning the horizon for ships. Angelholm Beach also offers visitors some gorgeous views. You'll discover this piece of coastline 80 kilometres to the southwest.

Searching for an escape in nature? Grab those car keys and take off to Akulla Bokskogar, 25 kilometres from Ly. You can also get some fresh air at Nissan River, 25 kilometres away.

Get dressed in some navy and black and catch the Halmstads BK in action at their home turf of Orjans Vall. Located 35 kilometres away in Halmstad, you can also go and encourage the IS Halmia.

Take the chairlift to the summit of Vallasen Ski Resort, drink in the white mountain scenery and then ski your way back to the lodge. For even more icy thrills and spills, test out the snow at Isaberg Ski Resort.

Venture outwards and find out what's happening in Fegen, 16 kilometres to the northeast. Plenty of visitors come here for Gunnarps Church and Fegens Chapel. Alternatively, Heberg is 17 kilometres to the southwest of Ly. Stop at this place for access to Saint Lawrence Church and the Falkenbergs Museum.

Located 35 kilometres to the south, Halmstad is a destination chock-full with activities. Stora Torg, Norre Katts Park and Halmstad Castle are all pretty close. Keep in mind, Picasso Park and St Nikolai Kyrka may be more your thing.

To truly experience a destination is to taste the local food and drink, so prepare to gnaw, nibble, sip and swig your way across Halland County. The only thing you need to bring with you is your appetite!

Endless security checkpoints, delayed flights and long queues. Airports are often exhausting. Give yourself a bit of extra time to find Landvetter Airport (GOT). Situated 85 kilometres to the northwest, it's the nearest terminal.

lastminute.com.au doesn't list any accommodation for Ly itself. Although, if you're willing to travel just 9 kilometres away, there are a handful of options available in Falkenberg.
