Been up 'til dawn way too often lately? Desperate for a break and a few quiet nights? Mai Mahiu might just be the ticket. It sits among the mountains, valleys and savannahs of Kenya — nice and off the beaten track. (We bet you'll feel so relaxed, you'll be under the blankets by sunset!)

It's situated 45 kilometres northwest of Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya.

You'll find a number of lovely natural sights not too far from Mai Mahiu. Why not make your way 50 kilometres to Nairobi National Park? Alternatively, you can enjoy some of nature's finest artwork at Mt. Longonot National Park, 16 kilometres away.

Make sure you pack some green and yellow clothing so you can support the soccer team, the Mathare United, at Moi International Sports Centre. Located 45 kilometres away in Nairobi, the venue is also home to the Tusker FC.

Seeking some other close-by places? Githunguri is about 25 kilometres to the east, so get in the car and start exploring! Alternatively, Naivasha, 40 kilometres northwest of Mai Mahiu, is also worth a day trip.
